Wow, okay so I was really worried that I wouldn't be able to get any artwork done for quite sometime. Luckily me for I have an amazing hubby whom I like to call Mr. FixIt. He fixed my tablet all better for me!
Anywho, this is an art commission that I've needed to get finished for quite some time. The commissioner preferred to remain unnamed and is not a member on here, but a personal friend of mine. The commissioner did give me permission to post my artwork, so that was kind of them. The commissioner requested the scene in Inuyasha: The Final Act from episode 8 called Among The Twinkling Stars to where it's still sunset and Inuyasha is carrying Kikyo's broken, dying body in his arms to spend her last moments of life with her, hence the melancholy of this piece. I remember when I first read this scene in the manga. I bawled my eyes out. Kikyo is my favorite character, but I am not a Kikyo/Inuyasha shipper at all. I prefer him with Kagome and if I had my choice, I'd pair Kik up with Sesshoumaru lol. Anyway, so here's a new drawing that I am so glad to have been able to finish! I was worried I wouldn't, but I did! So yeah, more commissions will be coming up and posted soon I am hoping! Depending on how things go here at home and if I get my old job back, we shall see. Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy! And please, I know people hate Kikyo, so no hate comments on the pairing or at me, okay? I was commissioned to draw this. Thanks guys.

Thank you very much! She is my favorite female character in the series. Always breaks my heart when she dies, but it is also necessary. She couldn't go on living the way she was. She was constantly stalked and being attacked and living in a body of clay, bones, and graveyard soil. She wasn't really "living" but more suffering. Inuyasha and Kagome set her soul free and she was finally at peace, happy and watching over all of them.

Because her body was not of this world and Naraku tainted it beyond fixing, so she passed on, but she's happy and at peace now. Her soul was saved thanks to Kagome.

I know. I love Kikyo too. She's my favorite female char in the manga/anime. But even though she's my favorite, I think this was the best ending for her. She needed to move on, be at peace, not yearn and be in pain the way she was. She was suffering and her soul was finally saved and set free.

This just gets me every time! You did such a beautiful job. I cried like a little baby when Kikyo died. Even seeing pictures of this ep is enough to tug my heart strings! I love the InuKag pairing, and InuKik, too. But lately, I've been really into SessKik... They just look good together! I think it would be so awesome if they were together. As much as I love InuKik, she and Sesshy would be perfect together.

Oh it does me too! This episode and these manga chapters made me bawl like a baby too. Not even kidding. I am a bigger fan of the InuKag pairing rather than InuKik. I do support their relationship before Kikyo died and before Naraku pit them against one another, but after Kikyo is brought back, it just feels unnatural to me. The SessKik pairing is positively beautiful looking, but in reality would never work out. Though I do love viewing artwork and seeing them together. I'm personally more of a fan of Sess and Adult Rin pairing as she ages. I think she'd grow up to be really beautiful! lol But yeah, I hear what you're saying about SessKik.

Yeah, I was depressed for weeks after she died. And no, SessKik wouldn't work out. Mostly because Sesshomaru is INUYASHA's brother, LOL. "Kikyo, HOW COULD YOU?!? THAT'S MY BROTHER!!!" Inuyasha and Kikyo's relationship is hard for me to watch. I feel like Kagome does after I see a romantic moment between them. I don't know why, but it just breaks my heart to see them together. I do love them, but i don't squeal and coo over them like I do with inukag.

I think all of us that loved and appreciated Kikyo for who she was (and not Inuyasha's lover) was depressed about it! lol Even though SessKik isn't realistic, it's still a fan pairing to fantasize over, I guess you could say? lol! Yeah, I understand what you mean... Inuyasha would kinda turn into a blibbering idiot and hurt Kagome when they ended up around each other. Still, it was always Inuyasha I got pissed at, not Kikyo. Always hurt for Kagome, and even Kagome knew it wasn't Kikyo's fault and she couldn't blame her. Their pairing was sweet when Kikyo was alive, before Kagome was ever even a thought, but that's it.

Exactly! People really don't seem to appreciate and love Kikyo OR Kagome for anything more that Inuyasha's lovers. They focus too much on Inuyasha and not as much on Kagome or Kikyo's character, which is why they hate them. Because they "hurt" Inuyasha. And ya know what makes me really miffed? Inuyasha can act like a total jerk, and his actions are always justified. But if Kagome or Kikyo dare to act less than perfect, then they're deemed b*tches! It's kind of sexist. Why are women expected to act like submissive little house-pets while men can act like total jerks and get away with it? It's stupid!

No, they really don't. Instead of focusing on one being the guy's lover, focus on what the character is and the impact she has on the series, not just Inuyasha. Some people are incredibly shallow. Sorry for the short responses, btw lol. I just finished a Sesshoumaru and Adult Rin commission. My hand feels like lead.

Oh heavens no! I don't mind chatting. It's just that I have the beginnings of carpal tunnel, so if I spend an exponential amount of time on a drawing, my hand gets sore and achy and feels really tingly and heavy once I'm done. It takes awhile to type stuff too lol.

Yes indeed. Their story is very sad, but things had to happen and end this way, and truthfully it's better for them. Not only is Kikyo at peace and free, but Kagome and Inuyasha are able to move on, after they get past their grief, and be together.

Yeah. I really got to thinking about it. Kikyo may have been his first love, but Kagome is the one he was destined to be with. Not Kikyo, even though I love her to death and she's my favorite character. With how she died, was brought back and wasn't really "of this world" she's better off where she is now. She's at peace, free and like Inuyasha said at the end of the episode, that Kikyo would protect them forever. Inuyasha and Kagome together at the end of the story and married are what makes most sense. Those two have been together through more than anything with each other and have seen sides of each other nobody else has ever seen.

My thoughts exactly. I do believe that Inuyasha and Kagome were destined to be together. He and Kikyo had a beautiful relationship, but it's all in the past. A lot of people think that because Inuyasha and Kagome fight, it means they don't love each other... NONSENSE! It just proves that they've stayed by each other even through the toughest of times, and they're able to forgive each other no matter how much they argue. That in my opinion, is true love.

yes that is true, after she had been revived, Kikyo had been a merely a lingering spirit, and bringing up the feelings Inuyasha had for her and pulling him back a little. Kikyo now can finally rest in peace as you said and Inuyasha and Kagome can move on with their lives.
Brings me so much nostalgy talking about this anime XD makes me want to watch it again

Haha, I was worried about having the inspiration to work on my Inuyasha commissions for folks, so I had my hubby pull out my DVDs and I've been re-watching the anime for the first time in ages! xD Haha. It does make one nostalgic!
