I needed a bit of a break from the dangly chibis. I'm sorta going through some stuff right now. Don't really want to talk about it, tbh, so I decided to get my feelings out through this drawing. I hope you guys enjoy it. The concept I had in mind wasSPOILER FOR FFXIII-2 IF YOU HAVE NOT COMPLETED THE GAME
Directly after Yeul's death in A Dying World 700AF. She disappears from Noel's arms, he stands up to look at the sky, and the heavy realization that Yeul is gone and he is the last surviving human and is all alone hits him and he collapses. So yeah. That's the idea I had in mind when creating this anyway. I hope you guys like it and that I did the character justice. I'm totally falling in love with this character. He's awesome. So yeah. Here's Noel Kreiss from FFXIII-2. Thank you in advance for any comments and/or faves, even though I don't really seem to be getting much lately lol and I'm not sure why... :/

This is a beautiful and tragic piece.
Noel's expression and body langue, even the beautiful yet frightening sunset, speak of the crushing reality that was Noel's.
Now, I don't know if this was your intention or not, the sunset mirrors the events of what happened: The gentle warm yellows (Yeul) are fading from the world, while the subdued reds (loss), harsher reds (the new reality) and looming grays/blacks (death) become prominent. It's a beautiful touch if intended, as I'm sure that's what you meant to portray here.
The only crits I can give is Noel's torso looks too small compared to his shoulders and arms. Lastly, his colors seem too bright in contrast to the setting sun.
Please know that despite these two crits I found they don't lessen my love for this piece. It's still powerful, conveys the emotions and message you wanted: the pain of loss and the harsh reality setting in.
And I have to say, your eye for detail is amazing. All of the little details on Noel's outfit are there: the designs on his clothes--I applaud you here because they look on par to what they are on his CGI/in-game models--the little details on his belt buckle down the belt itself, his sash, your shading, and finally his hair.
His hair is amazing! It feels as if it has "weight." By weight I mean, if a gust of wind picked up I can picture his hair being rustled by it. It has layers, different tones of browns, and lovely shading ... I mean, his hair feels like real hair!
Beautiful work, dear! You've done Noel justice with this. He's become one of my favorites from the Final Fantasy games, and this is now a favorite fan-art of him. I can't say enough of how much I love this drawing.
In closing, I hope whatever is going on in your life settles down, and that something I said in my comment made you smile. Even if a little. Because, my dear, you have talent. Talent like yours should not be wasted nor go without the proper praise it deserves. I know I've silently faved works of yours in the past, but that is a habit of mine I'm working on breaking. I look forward to seeing more of your works in the future, and as I have free time I plan on commenting on your other works as well.

Thank you very much and yes, that is exactly what I was going for, because I sort of pictured him just collapsing to his knees after Yeul died and disappeared from his arms. So you're spot on!
Thank you for the crits. I do appreciate that and I'm aware his torso is a bit smaller because he's slumped down. Had I elongated it, I felt he would've been way too upright. Perhaps I should have added some wrinkles into the shirt to give it the more slumped affect, but when one is slumped down like that with their shoulders hanging, their torsos tend to appear smaller. I had a couple of friends model the pose for me so I could get it correctly, but I felt it was more in proportion to his body language.
I don't feel his clothes are too bright at all. I didn't want to dull them down as to take away from the image, but mayhaps my computer monitor settings are different from yours. I didn't make them overly bright, but I didn't dull them down either. I just left them at his usual color.

Beautiful expression in the visual form. You did with visual, what others do with words, and that's a talent to be respected.
Ah. I should have added that I could be wrong. It's been years since I last drew anything and my skill level wasn't advice enough to capture such difficult angles. Even still, the feeling of grief and nothing left, boneless shows beautifully.
Another I forgot to mention was that while it might seem bright to me it also makes him the central focus.
It's a small problem I have when leave comments, I forget things.

Yeah. I did want to make him the central focus since this piece is all about him. I do eventually plan to draw Yeul soon too. Hopefully I'll get that done before long. I have a good idea for her.
