They are surprised, watching her freeze the blaster bolts. It’s something Jedi learn to do, but rarely can one stop so many at once.

“And this cycle ended up at the battle of Ruusan, I bet..” Kilan says, Yoda nods in agreement. “Yes. Where established, the Sith rule of two was.”

“I get the feeling..” Luna says. “That they don’t think it has stopped yet. But they showed me another story.”

She begins to pick the bolts out of the air, like fruit from a tree. This gets both of their attention. She gradually gathers them into a ball of burning blaster gas.

“There was a wielder, who strode into a village. He had much power in the Force, and he demanded tribute from the people. They thought he was just another despot, come to crush them down.”

“But his demands were slight.. comparatively. He took food from them, but helped the fields grow fertile and yielding. He demanded a fourth of all the village’s trade money, but taught the merchants techniques that tripled their earnings and opened lanes that they never had. He demanded maidens for his harem, but they lived with their families and he encouraged their dreams. And above it all, he lived with the people. He listened to their worries. When they cried, he cried with them. When they celebrated, he was always at the head of the toasts. And that little village became the first city of their world.”

Luna folds her hands around the ball of burning gas.

She had connected with the force. They could see what she described in their minds as clearly as standing there.

“This is the balance, masters..” Luna says, almost in a whisper. “We take it all. Light and Dark, good and bad.. but we make sure that we leave behind something of beauty.”

She opens her hands, and the gasses curl and cool into the shape of two crystalline flowers.

She hands each of them a flower. They are still warm, and faintly glittering with the Force energies she invested in them.

And then she blinks, almost as if she had been in a trance herself.

“Um.. I tried to make them white, but tolium gas is red.. I know Jedi don’t like red crystals, so I hope pink is okay..”

They look at her for a moment. Neither of them can remember anyone doing something like they just witnessed, not to mention the story she told them.

But then, they both have to laugh a bit.

“What?” Luna looks a bit hurt.

“Nothing, Luna..” Kilan says. “I am sorry. I was just thinking how much like you that was.. To worry about something like that after saying something so..”

“Profound, hmm?” Yoda chimes in. “Thank you, Padawan Luna. Treasure it, I will. And meditate on what you have said, we both should.”

Kilan nods. “Yes. We will need to give a report to the Council.”

Luna bites her lip a bit. “Do you think.. they’ll understand?”

”I’m sure they will.” Kilan says. “In the mean time, why don’t you go visit the droid shop?”
