Chapter Two: A crush is called a crush because your feelings end up crushed

As a new quarter dawned, you realized your own feelings.
It took you out of nowhere and you didn't know exactly when you started having feelings for Aomine. During the days when you're having a hard time, you would stay up on the roof for hours with him, taking in comfort while he lays his head on your lap and fall asleep together.

It was simple and it made you happy knowing that you have something like this to fall back on whenever something is bringing you down.

At least until earlier today...

You headed to the roof for lunch, you ran a little late because you wanted to surprise Aomine with teriyaki burger, his favorite. After reaching the top of the stairs to the roof, you noticed that the door was open a crack, and you saw Aomine with another girl.
She had a light brown hair that was curled neatly and rested on her shoulders, and she had her arms around his waist. Aomine was looking down at her, his face serious but no trace of emotion.

Afraid of what you might see next, you closed the door and left.

You reached the classroom and saw Momoi chatting with other girls and sat with her.
"(Name)-Chan! This is rare for you to join us! Is that a teriyaki burger?" Her eyes twinkled with amusement, she knew how you felt about Aomine without having to tell her and she assumed you had bought that for him, but she frowned seeing the dim, zoned out expression on your face.
"Hey, what's the matter?" She waved a hand close to your face bringing you back to reality.
"O-oh nothing! The cashier messed up my order so they gave me a teriyaki burger, do you want it? I won't be able to finish it?" You asked her faking a smile.

"Don't mind if I do." you see a large hand grab it from behind you.
You look up to see Aomine peering at your face from above.
You deferred from his gaze and looked back to Momoi who just gave you a smile.
"A-Actually, I'm not very hungry. I-I'll see you guys later." You stood up grabbing your belongings from your desk and running out of the classroom.
You hear Momoi sigh on your way out and felt Aomine's stare follow you out the room.

"What's her deal?" Aomine turned to Momoi.
"I don't know, you tell me." She gave him a stern look and rolled her eyes when she got a shrug in reply.
She pulled out her phone and sent you a text:
Want to hang out later? There's no basketball practice for a while, I'm in desperate need of girl time!!

You felt your phone vibrate as you walked to the nearest bus stop.
You saw Momoi had sent you a text, you heaved a sigh as you replied:
Sure, where do you want to meet?

Later that day, you met up with Momoi at the arcade down the street from school.
Trying not to look depressed, you put on the cutest outfit you had.
At this time you were already used to Japanese fashion.
You had on an overlarge cream dress and a navy blue crochet sweater on top, popping the round collar over it with a cream over the shoulder purse, black tights and flats. You put your hair up on a messy side bun and put a navy blue bow on it.

Moments later, Momoi had appeared giving you a hug.
"(Name)-chan~ Why did you leave so early today?" Damn, she went straight to the point.
But it was one of the things you appreciated greatly about her.
"N-Nothing, I just wasn't feeling well." She gave you a look expressing how she doesn't buy it. Momoi was too sharp for some lame excuse like that.
"I know you like Dai-chan, so don't try to hide things from me~ I'm your friend too, and it hurts knowing that you feel like you can't rely on me." She gave you a pout and you sighed. There was no winning against her.

"Well..." You started. "Let's not talk here, let's go somewhere more private?" you asked, putting your hands together. Momoi took you to a karaoke bar and ordered soda for the both of you.

"Is this place private enough?" She asked, eager to hear what you had to say.
"Yeah..." You began telling her what you saw on the roof and how its hard for you to look at Aomine after that. You weren't sure if he ended up asking the girl out or if he rejected her but at the same time, you explained to her how you didn't want to know either way. In the midst of your explanation, you noticed tears were streaming down your face.

"(Name)-chan... Don't worry, I know Dai-chan since we were kids, he isn't going to ask out a girl unless he really likes her and from what you told me, it doesn't seem like he would respond to her." She patted and rubbed your back in hopes that it would comfort you.

After you had calmed down, Momoi cajoled you to start singing with her, temporarily taking your mind off of Aomine.

About an hour had passed, you felt as though you had sung out all your feelings away and you were back to your normal cheery self. Momoi suggested that you two go out for dinner.
You arrived at the local burger joint and the two of you sat down, chatting about what you missed out on at school. After the food had arrived, a group of guys walked in making Momoi squeal.

"Tetsu-kun~" her eyes practically had hearts on them.
"Domo, Momoi-chan." Another blue haired boy waved and walked towards you with his friends.
He looked at you and gave a slight bow "Domo."
You bowed back and said hello. You noticed right away that they were from Seirin, the new school that had just opened a couple of years ago.

Momoi introduced you to them and you all decided to sit in a group together.
You sat on the end of the table with Momoi across from you and next to a man named Kiyoshi Teppei. He gave you a kind smile and talked with a soft voice in contrast to Aomine's rough tone. You were all chattering while eating together and before you knew it, you had stopped thinking about Aomine completely.
Basketball became the topic of everyone's conversation and Teppei was talking about it passionately, throwing a joke here and there about his team mates and their past games.
You giggled at his last remark, making him blush a little.

"So you left school early, but it looks like you're more than just fine." A cold deep voice rang from beside you. You looked to see a very annoyed Aomine. His scowl looking more menacing than usual.
"Dai-chan, you don't have to be so mean to her." Momoi puffed her cheeks.
"Domo, Aomine-kun." Kuroko held his hand up.

Aomine clicked his tongue as if to acknowledge them.
"You're coming with me." He grabbed you by your wrist and yanked you out of your seat but he was stopped when Teppei held her other hand.
"Sorry, but I don't think she wants to go with you." Teppei smiled at Aomine.
"I-I'ts okay, Teppei-kun. I'll see you guys later, it was nice meeting everyone!" You freed your hand from Teppei's and walked out the joint with Aomine.

"You're on first name basis huh?" he gave you a cold look.
"So?" You shrugged, his hand still holding onto your wrist.
"Why weren't you at the roof today at lunch?" He asked.
"L-Last I checked, I didn't have to go there everyday." You stuttered, recalling the scene that you probably weren't meant to see earlier today.
"Yes but you said you'd be there everyday." He retorted, his tone a little warmer and his hand loosened its grip on your wrist.
"I guess..." You felt his fingertips intertwine with yours.
"Don't call other guys by their first names if you're going to keep being so formal with me. My first name is Daiki. So call me that from now on." You looked up to see his face looking away from you.
"O-okay." You were taken aback by his actions and silence filled the air as he walked you home.
