Description
This is shot of Libušín battle(2008), the largest historical fencing action in Czech republic.Even at the edge of the battlefield, I felt like in the iron lake. Fortunately, I didn´t joined the battle, because I´m still quite unexperienced and this battle is sometimes called "The meat mincer", not without a reason.

Great photo! Gives you a feel for the battle, though I would guess that the real battle had a lot more blood soaking the ground!
I'm curious... In a more modern battle, after the discovery of gun powder, the smoke on the field would be from musket and canon fire. In earlier battles, fought like this one with wood and hammer and steel, what would cause a fog of smoke like this?

The said L. battle is "all-Gothic", so it does include canons and firearms, but in earlier times I guess it would be good old smoke, be it from campfires or arson. Also, low clouds and fog could occur.

Very true. Of course, even before gunpowder, fire was always a powerful weapon! I suppose fire is the original, "Weapon of Mass Destruction"!

I'm from germany and evry time i meet someone from eastern-europe (czech, poland, litauen, russia etc. ) on battlefield i prepare me retreat....they're fighting very ...."intense"

No, they really will not hurt me, but seeing a madly grinning peson with years of fighting experience, swinging a huge sword (or worse, a mace or a hammer) is not too pleasant

Yes, you can. Battles are here mostly in summer; you need to sign up and meet some costume and safety requirements for enter.
