THE PSYLOCKE SERIES: PART SEVEN

#1- ULTIMATE X-MEN (or reality 1610) debuted in February 2001 as part of Marvel’s re-imagined and modernized ULTIMATE line. Betsy made her début in the book in issue #16 (2002) as Agent Braddock of the British Secret Service, or STRIKE, I’m not sure which and I can’t get to my comics right now.

#2- An extremely powerful telepath, Betsy was supposed to help Xavier find his son, David (a combination of Legion and Proteus from reality 616), but ended up being possessed by him instead. Calling himself Proteus, David fights the X-Men using Betsy’s body, but she finally manages to get temporary control and demands that Xavier kill her. Colossus drops a car on her and crushes her to death, but she had breast cancer and was going to die anyway so he never feels bad about it.

#3- The Ultimate Universe version of Betsy’s body swap is that after being smashed by Colossus, Betsy’s consciousness found the body of an Asian girl named Kwannon who was dying. Kwannon wanted to move to the afterlife, and let Betsy take over her body. She works as some sort of covert agent for Xavier, eventually ends up joining the X-Men (ULTIMATE X-MEN #84, 2007) and later dies during ULTIMATUM (2009), along with just about everyone else on the damn planet, as I understand it. I think this costume is cool. That’s really all I have to say about it.
