Description I did a piece a while back that was inspired by the cover of Halo: Ghosts of Onyx, and I think I mentioned that I wanted to do something that was more directly inspired by the cover of that book. Well this is that something.

Scene set in Garry's Mod, lovingly edited in GIMP.

UPDATED: I edited the slightest detail on Kurt's visor (fish bowl helmet) so as to make it smoother.

Thanks! I had my copy of the book right next to me for inspiration. I tried to do something in between my own rendition of the cover and an accurate recreation of the cover and honestly this is one of my favorite pieces I've ever done.

I used a smoke effect I got a billion years ago on the workshop (I think?) and then simulated the rest in GIMP. It's kind of easy once you get the hang of it;

Create a new layer. Get a brush, color it what you want the smoke to be colored, turn the opacity to however thick you want the smoke to be (I usually got for either 25 or 50/100) and color in erratic splotches. Then get your push tool and fuck it's shit up until you get the desired results. Sometimes you need to fuck it up GENTLY and specifically.
