It's strange. I normally draw lots of angst. There are tons of sad songs that I absolutely love and that fill my head with beautiful mournful images, but somehow, lately, even with all that melancholy in mind, I sit down, put the pen to the tablet, and Grell comes out smiling. Da heck? I'm not complaining, just confused

With this one, the balloon and the thread were the meaningful things. I think had I posted the whole line-art before I started to color, I may have never returned to it, but in this case I was only missing the color on Sebby at the time of the WIP post, so it was only a matter of finding a few minutes to finish it off

I've heard this song too! I can't help but find the expression on Sebastian's face a little worrying -that little smirk- it feels like he's not a very reliable anchor. Maybe it's just my idea of his character, what with him being a rather evil scheming demon and all. Let's hope this is your Sebastian and he's not about to just let go for the fun of it.
Also getting a weird instant playback of '99 red balloons' - imagining the sky full of Grell's afloat, like some fucked-up Magritte painting.

Nah, this Sebastian is tried through and through. To be fair, he's capable of some vicious things and yes, even toward his Grell. But that usually takes some serious provocation and even then, Sebastian goes through lengths to keep Grell alive and around at the end of it all. So even if he does let go of the thread, it doesn't yet mean he's letting go of Grell. Make sense? Also Grell seems peaceful and non-provocative enough here, so should be safe enough.

Ok, so your Sebby, that's good. It's hard to let go of someone you have to share a head with, ask Milon! XD I'm glad they have each-other though; viciousness or not! And yes, Grell seems very peaceful.

Oh, I wasn't avoiding it, I was too wrapped up in the other answer. Milon would have greatly appreciated some away-time from Pitch over the years. But, alas, they both have to live in here, so. He can run but he can't hide! XD It's not an issue anymore since Pitch has calmed down and all but retired, and Milon is happy and in love.
Haha, well, depends! Half naked and muscles sounds good, but swim-club? I HATE sports animes with a passion. Well, I kinda hate sports, full stop. So if the action is centered around swimming, I might not like it, but if it's centered around their personal lives and the swim club is just a setting, then it could be really good!

Omg, I have always loved that song. Like, for years. And associated it with Sebby and Grell more than once~ (It made me cry one time; I think it was the "you behave as though I'm wearing a crown" line; I started thinking about princess Grell, then I started thinking about all the who-knows-how-many incarnations I had, and...it was just too much.) Have you heard the Spanish version? Also gorgeous. "See the Good" is also a good one for the two of them. ^^

Yes, probably for the best. It sucks having all those feelings and being unable to fully share them with anyone.
That's the price us artists sometimes have to pay for inspiration, but it isn't the only thing that inspires us, right? And there are opportunities for strong feelings that can be shared with others, so... yes, for the better, bottom line.

It's funny, because it's inspired by a song that isn't sad, per se, but implies distress imo, but Grell is smiling anyway. Oh, him and his disregard for danger~
