Description The idea for this is a doll that was abandoned years ago and became a Shuppet (which is how this pokemon is created; a ghost posesses the body of a discarded plush doll) and was cursed to remain in the house it was left at and spends it's days looking out the window just wanting to go outside and have fun and be like it was back when it was loved as a toy.

As soon as that idea came into my mind early this afternoon, I actually rushed to draw it because I loved the thought so much. The only problem is, because it was bit of a sketch-job, my tones in front and behind the broken windows could have been better, but I still like this for the theme I created for it, even if it did make me a bit sad throughout the whole thing.

The only thing I don't like is how my window streak marks look like falling rain, so it looks like lil' Shuppers here can't go out because it's raining, when it's supposed to be that he can't go out because he's cursed (similar to the ghostly couple in Beetlejuice...Sandworms! Ya hate'm, right?)

But I'm happy with it; it was fun and relaxing. I was mostly inspired by the Haunted House episode of Samurai Jack that I saw last night (which is actually quite a Frightening episode!), but there's a piano piece from the game "Evil Dead: Hail to the King" (the game stank, but the music RULED!) that was the final trigger motivation for this drawing. Here, I'll share it, heh.

oh, my lonely lil' Shuppers...I love them so much! My favorite ghost of them all (including his later Banette evolution)

Banette has a similar story according to the Pokedex: [link] (Pok%C3%A9mon)#Pok.C3.A9dex_entries

Pokemon Emerald: "An abandoned plush doll became this Pokémon. They are said to live in garbage dumps and wander about in search of the children that threw them away."

Pokemon Diamond & Pearl, Platunim and Black & White: "A doll that became a Pokémon over its grudge from being junked. It seeks the child that disowned it."

I don't want to be those kids :I

Oh, wow, another new pic! And another Pokémon fanart, what's more! While all the other people who watch you are probably wishing that I'd never gotten you into Pokémon by this point, I myself am both surprised and pleased by this recent addition to your gallery~ ^.^

As always, you've taken a simple species of pokémon (in this case, Shuppet) and woven a fantastic image out of it, not only from creating a great scene and mood in your art itself but also through all of the emotion and thought that you put into your pictures and their "backstories". I knew you loved Shuppet/Banette the moment you read about it, and the decidedly non-kiddy manner in which these pokémon are said to come to be in the games, but still... the creativity and amount of energy you put into making a fanart like this is just so awesome, and really very impressive to me.

Moving on to the pic itself. As said, I think there's a fantastic idea and story behind this one, and the manner in which this particular Shuppet was abandoned, and how he now wants nothing more than to go outside and to play again, is well conveyed by the mood of the whole thing. The Shuppet itself is very cute, and as always the amount of patience you must posses to have done all the delicate hatching and stippling is nothing short of amazing to me. x.x; I *love* all the detail that you've put into the house itself, like the broken windows, worn wood of the window casings, and the little touch of the dangling spider that really convey the house (and Shuppet) have been abandoned for what is likely a long time. The whole thing is kind of sad, but then again considering this is probably what you were going for I think you should consider this drawing a definite success!

Very awesome picture. And you do never cease to surprise me with your stuff, as I've said many times before. ^.^

If anyone's got a problem with a grown man making pokemon art, that's their problem. I'm VERY happy that you got me into it all because it's opened me to new things and greatly feeds and fuels my artistic creativity and imagination. I'll get back to other stuff when I'm in the mood, but for now, it's Poketime! I really do feel a lot younger again; always eager to see the next episode of an enjoyable cartoon (I just feel SO good not having to wait a whole week thanks to Cartoon Network reruns!), always getting excited with what I see, and letting it all influence my own imagination, it's just so fun!

Even with a sad theme like Shuppers here, I still have a lot of fun creating it. I've been in good moods lately, and pokemon is good for good moods (did I mention good? I did? good.) so I'm gonna spew out as much art of it as I can. And I still have so much left to do, heh heh. And if anyone doesn't like it, they can Bite my Bulbasaur, Munch my Lax and Blastoise it out their Exploud and Shuppet it up their Ash!

Okay, 'NUFF of that, moving on!

Anyway, I'm really glad you like my touches to this one. Even though I got this all done in a single day, it was still exhausting (so...many...DOTS!). Oh, and the little spidey? I threw that in just for you. I mean, just because this particular picture wasn't directly inspired by you, doesn't mean I should exclude you, right?

*heheh* Yes, I must say it keeps me feeling young, too. But there again, perhaps that's exactly -why- I watch it in the first place, do you think?

And awww... you is always so thoughtful all of the time. Despite the fact that you really can't stand those delightful little creepers, you put one in there anyway, just for moi. I feel so speznishal! -^.^-

And "Munch my Lax"... lmao. How the hell do you come up with those things? XD
