The work is striking at first sight.. I really like the movement and the foreshortening is very well executed... The colors are efficiently used and I also like the face, which is beautiful but has some humanly flaws (like the teeth)... I assume you have used a model for the face...
I have several points of criticism, most of which should not essentially be fixed but considered...
First the setting and the frame of the work.... Unless this is a cut intended for a book cover or something, sides of the frame could have been a little wider... This would let us to see empty skies near her head and sword, and more of the army she's leading, which is a little obscure as it is.... and maybe a little further down her legs... The work here leaves not much to feel involved anything other than the princess...
Other issues are about the anatomy... It doesn't catch attention at first glance, but when you look longer they become evident... First one is the head; it seems a little dislocated and over-sized with respect to the body... I think the dislocation is caused by the tiger shoulder-pad... To make her face completely visible, the head had to be moved ...
Her arm at the back... For it is to be where it is now, the upper arm should be almost backwards paralel with the groung, which would effect the movement of the cape around her back... If you decided to rework on the piece, taking the hand lower towards the hips would be easier...
Finally, (not me but) the masters of light and color would rather see more reflections of the sunrise (or sunset) on the metal ware...
Nevertheless, your work is great and inspiring... No bad feelings about the critique...
Cheers

Very nice idea and execution, but you do know she's wearing a Centurion's helmet (effectively, a Sergeant). I don't think a Princess would be wearing a helmet of such a lowly soldier.
It was quite normal for Roman generals to do without helmets at all, so that the troops could more easily recognize them. Not certain why she needs two swords, she'd be more likely to be holding a baton to signify her office. She would presumably have some bodyguards too.

this is breathtakingly beautiful. I love her poise, sending her warriors into battle, I love the colours, her tunic and her chest armour, which make her unbelievably sexy... I would so love to see a follow up where she is engaged in ferocious combat.

Love it, writing a roman-esque story, but with more equality between the sexes (well, a lot more). This is a perfect alternate world/history.

I'd rename this work Bellona, as no Roman woman of any standing would be caught dead as a soldier. Now as the Wife of Mars the Avenger, this would be a great work.

I love the painting but i have a little comment on the title. There were no princesses in Rome. Rome was a republic. Parliament and everything. The Imperator was chosen through vote not birth.
