This is definitely NOT a funny disease. It was sad to see my grandpa with the disease when I was a kid (when I didn't understand as many things as I do now), and now it's even more heartbreaking that my mom (his daughter) is showing signs of it now at the age of 54. I really hope she doesn't get a full-blown case of Alzheimer's. And it's genetic too, I would hate to keep forgetting things constantly when I'm older. When I gather enough money I must donate to this association most definitely, without a doubt.

just a thought: american governing bodies have recently released documents proclaiming they are releasing nano-sized particals of aluminium dioxide into the atmosphere to counteract global warming effects...
problem: some of the worlds scientists are now pointing out that aluminium dioxde, when inhaled and settling into the brain itself through the nasal passages can lead to a greatly increased chance of alzheimers...
this is proovable, check it out yourself if you are interested. infowars and other such organisations are eagerly trying to get this sort of information out there for those that want to learn the rest of the truth (you know, the stuff they cant put on the news or whatever...)
do the ends justify the means here?

I hope this attempt at humour doesn't offend.
John Wing once said he got a letter from his mother
"Dear John
Please come home.
Your father has Alzheimer's.
All is forgotten".
Although my father never was diagnosed with Alzheimers, he did have a stroke which affected his memory, forgetting words and things that had happened.
I fought with him as a young adult....so this joke kind of resonated...as did your post.
Thank you.

Definitely. My father was just recently diagnosed with the disease, and watching him wither in front of me is torture

I truly believe that Alzheimer's is the worst disease. My uncle had it, and he just recently found peace about a month ago. I'm glad he finally let go, 'cause seeing him was torture. This disease eats you up from the inside, and along with all the pain you also has to deal with the humiliation. It hurts to see your loved one forget you. But what I thought hurt the most was the small sparks of recognition and life that sometimes went through him, while knowing that it meant nothing, and that they were just brief moments.
I feel with the persons out there who has Alzheimer's, and also with their families.

Thank you so much for your comment. It's indeed like everybody says. To have a person with Alzheimer's is torture. I had an aunt with this disease and it was indeed painful to see her forget everything, her son, her life, her friends...but then again, nothing made me more happy when for brief moments she was lucid and she knew who I was and talked to me like nothing happened...

Exactly. People haven't realised yet that the biggest problem with the economy today is not only that big corporations are closing, people losing their jobs & money etc. The big picture is exactly this : Everything has come to a complete halt. Research right now is underfunded and we as a race are not advancing. There were plans for the future, now all we have to worry about is the present...

It's probably worse for the people around. When you are forgotten but still have to take care of them.
