Description Behold the rank and file infantry men. Though their jobs may not be glorious and they tend to die in droves, they are in integral part of the science fiction empires in which they serve.

Stormtroopers: The famous (or more accurately, infamous) foot soldiers of Star Wars. The Stormtroopers since the clone wars, through the age of the Galactic Empire, and beyond. There numbers are massive, and their dedication to their duty is nearly unmatchable.

Imperial Guardsmen: The Imperial Guard is the primary fighting force of the Imperium, without it, Mankind would surely perish. the Guard possesses the courage and the manpower to face and annihilate the enemies of the Emperor across the galaxy whether they be ferocious Tyranids, or the demonic forces of Chaos itself.

Now these two groups of soldiers march into battle for honor and glory. Though both are often remembered for dieing droves, this is their chance to prove themselves! Blasters and Lasguns will fire and bodies will hit the floor. But who will stand tall when the firefight is done? The Trooper... or the Guardsmen? Only one side can survive. So tell me viewer...

WHO! IS! DEADLIEST!

Disclaimer: Just to be clear, these two combatants were created / are owned by people far more creative / wealthier then me. I have made this, not for profit, but in the hopes of encouraging spirited discussion among fans. Please support the combatants official series. Thank you, that is all).

If it was a one on one fight between the full might of both the Imperial Stormtrooper corps and the Imperial Guard then the guard would win both due to the quality and variety of troops (including abhumans and the different elite regiments like Catachan, Death Korps, Cadian Shock, Steel Legion etc) and and just sheer attrition. The Galactic Empire has a massive corps of troops, but even then in the Star Wars lore it is only estimated to be in the billions. The Imperial Guard is easily over a trillion strong.

Now bare in mind, this is just a one on one fight between the guard and the Imperial stormtroopers, completely exluding their navies and special forces.

Stormtroopers probably

Most Guardsmen are not best equipped and more used as a disposal elements.
So the stormtroopers were also used as disposal elements but they were pretty good equipped in comparison.

Star Wars blasters are serious bullshit considering their stats but that is what we need to go with and they mass produce them.

So if one million blasters stands against one million lase guns, blasters would win..

Imperial Guardsmen have the numbers and more weapons than the Stormtroopers. If it was one squad vs another, I would go with the Storm Troopers with their better training.

This would have to go to the Astra Militarum. The only thing the Empire has going for it is their soldiers are probably better trained. Everything else points to the Imperial Guard. It took them years to build a Death Star to blow up planets, while there is an Inquisition ordo solely dedicated to making sure exterminatus isn't overused. Plus, psykers are far more prevalent than force users. Warhammer is just too over the top to lose here.

We're talking regular soldiers, not super soldiers, if we want to go crazy why not give some radome Padawan the Staff of Storm, literally the most dangerous weapons ever made, makes The Death Star, The Galaxy Cannon, the HyperSpace Missles & The Planet Killer look like small cheap firecrackers,
As for Sly Marbo, there are counters either Jango & Boba Fett, Null Ordo, Bakara, btw. the StormTroopers, the first generation were clones, while any and all enlisted men and women were trained by clones, in the same ratio of training they were, not holdbacks what so ever.

Pootisman90 In reply to Archanos [2017-11-16 07:48:04 +0000 UTC]

Good luck finding the staff.
Nope, he´s Rambo on steroids, wielding a rocket-powered autocannon (1 inch bolter), and coming from a planet that is worse than a combination of Felucia, Pandora, Mordor, Skull Island and the Capital Wasteland, plus a bit of Beyond the Wall.
And? Clone troopers were NOT elite troops, much less compared to the real elite army of the IG (skarskins); they were much better than droids, but mainly because they were sentient and had better weapons and vehicles.. and Jedi aplenty.

Archanos In reply to Pootisman90 [2017-11-16 08:23:55 +0000 UTC]

The staff if well semi-sentient, think Fenrisian Wolf with a Ph.D. in quantum mechanics that makes any other piece of advanced technology look like a toy hammer, its also known as the galaxy eater because it can, also one person in the entire galaxy knows were it is but he is not retarded enough to try and get, I mean who would want a weapon capable of creating & controlling, wormholes, systems electrical maelstroms and even blackholes with destructive capacity of planetary levels to solar system and even unto the galaxy itself,
501st, were they seen some of the worst parts of the war, especially of Felucia, was basically Catacha's sister, they only pulled it off because of the ARC's

Pootisman90 In reply to Archanos [2017-11-16 11:54:34 +0000 UTC]

Only the insane moron who would want to blow up the entire galaxy (looking at you, Dr. Nefarious!)
Then the stormtroopers are doomed. Catachia is WAY worse than Felucia (Sarlaccs don´t have poison, Rancors grow only to the size of small houses, acklays still feel pain...).

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Archanos In reply to Pootisman90 [2017-11-16 12:48:20 +0000 UTC]

Actually, Rancors are not native to that world, they are native to Danthomir also they too are semi sentiet like the Ferisian Wolf & Force receptive sentitive, witht the largest being the size an Imperial Walker AT-AT, well almost but that one was fossil in the Galactic nature museum, and that planet is pretty scary, not like the other 2 but a bit more like Korriban, but to a less degree, as for the staff, well it's not something that you want to handle, in older lore stories, D.Vader is the only one who said no to the will of the staff before shattering it again, as it was done before by Palpatine, but it took only 50 or so years to reform, while for Vader it too 3-400 years, and even then that thing is still scary, as it kind of well bends the Force around it that it eats all life, some even specualte that is how Korriban ended up as it did, since at one point Sith older stories say it was lush & green similar to ancient Tatoine, aslo Sarlaccs do have toxins and they torutre theyre food via the dark side, now their toxin can kill you but slowly, over the course of years, but its still apinafull death, this is the cause of Boba's death in the legends continuty.

After reading about the lore behind the Imperial Guardsmen and the vehicles of the Guard a few months ago, I now firmly believe the Imperial Guard will win this battle hands down. After all, notable quotes of the Imperial Guard are "When in doubt, throw more men at it", "A guardsman's life is to die in service of the Emperor of Man", etc. The Imperial Army and Stormtrooper Corps of the Galactic Empire will run out of men and equipment long before the Imperial Guard runs out of men. The Baneblade would just unleash eleven barrels of death and destruction on any Galactic Empire vehicle that isn't an AT-AT, and Titans will just destroy the AT-AT long before it can attempt to penetrate the void shields of a Titan.

M8 you do know that dark troopers are advanced imperial battle droids with armor resistant to lightsabers and shrugs off blaster fire like nothing right? Phase 2 and three can fiction like power armor or droids. Phase 2 is armed with a massive imperial repeater minigun. Or assault cannon. While three is armed with an assault cannon, missiles, missiles, heavy wrist blasters and other stuff. I think they'll do fine.

I saw the film, and I give them credit (because they can aim), but Warhammer 40K is several miles more badass than Star Wars. For example, a simple Ork jumped on a 200 feet tall robot that is the equivalent of 6 AT-ATs and to this day the bike he used to do the deed is still burning.

Not death troopers m8 as those guys are jokes and waisted potential. In talking about these guys starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Dark_t…

Funnily enough their among the handful of things in the star wars universe that could probably hold their own against a dark trooper.

Yeah, but may of those are droids or cyborgs, and the rest, though can fly, have practically no armor and their lightning gun is useless past a few meters.

Yeah you might wanna read again as nearly all phases sane for one are incredibly powerful starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Phase_…

starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Elite_…

Phase zero didn't get thick armor like phases two and three did but they make up for it elsewhere further more you seem to forget that phase zero has the option for blast cannon or shot gun with a rapid fire pistol or thermal detonator. Mix that with this maneuverability and they're deadly.

I'm going with Imperial guard. Because the storm troopers don't seem to have any kind of battle strategy. They also don't seem any kind chin of command. They don't react to there enemies movements. Or concordant attacks.  As an army the Storm troopers suck.

EsorkZassinGonzalez In reply to DestroyerX5 [2017-06-30 21:05:09 +0000 UTC]

I'm just gonna throw this in here, bad aim is because of plot armor. And without plot armor, in a lot of fire fights, people tend to miss which also includes some times the best or even the Protagonists. Plot armor protects main characters because they are essential to the plot. Unless you want to see the Main Character die without any story going further to it, then okay, sure..

Djturbo89 In reply to DestroyerX5 [2016-10-05 16:48:02 +0000 UTC]

that is not true... the troopers are elites.. but if they had hit all the heroes in the movies, there would be no movie at all, and that is the reason they seem useless.  when they face any other enemies, they are quite efficient and lethal.
this is more prominent in the newer trilogy, due to other opponents than the heroes. so I'd say this fight would be pretty even

Definitely the Imperial Guard.

Comparing any sci-fi army to a Warhammer 40k army is just.... silly.

First of all, Imperial Stormtroopers aren't renowned for their elite skills. They were selected for LOYALTY to Emperor Palpatine above all.

And before you all start hating on the Imperial Guardsmen for "wearing t-shirts and carrying flashlights", that's only in comparison to FETHING SPESS MAHREENS. Compared to the Stormies' plasteel armor and E-11 blaster rifles, an Imperial Guardsman in Flak armor and wielding an M35-M Galaxy-patten Lasgun isn't all that different.

Also, bear in mind that the Imperial Guard just has much greater tactical flexibility and diverse weaponry than the Galactic Empire's Stormtroopers have. Sentinel walkers and AT-ST walkers might be comparable in terms of capability, but when it comes to their main battle tanks? The AT-AT vs the Leman Russ in all it's delicious versions? There's just no question. A Russ can easily outmaneuver an AT-AT and bring it's Battle Cannon and Lascannon to bear while the AT-AT is trying to turn.

And let's not even get started on that Warhound-class titan that just appeared from behind that fallen soda can... Wait, how did that hide behind that? It would have taken some kind of tactical genius to--
