Fan art of Matthew (aka Canada) and papajack1's Quebec OC Philippe Williams for his collab fic with Kitaklaw : Alea Iacta Est Part OneWell, this was supposed to be just a line art but...it kinda morphed into this...old photograph-ish looking...thing
I don't know, I couldn't just leave it as linework and I really had no time for a full color work so...this happened! Lol Maybe one day this will see color but for now, I hope this works (I know a certain someone's been waiting

8D I know everyone else has already beaten me to the punch on gushing over this, but this looks amazing! I love their poses, and the detail on their uniforms astounds me (though the shorts kinda amuse me.

It's the tropical version of the WWII uniform, so you'll see the Canadians wearing this during the summer parts of the Italian Campaign (this illustration should be from the attack on Sicily in the summer of 1943) and Hong Kong. And yes, if you're just used to the images from the other conflicts in Europe, seeing the soldiers in shorts and short sleeves is a bit jarring.

Those uniforms.... They gave me trouble that's for sure, but not as much as anatomy and posing (Matthew's right leg there just would not lay right GAH!!!) But I am happy overall so all is good

But thanks, I'm glad you like it! It's like I said I felt it was lacking as just a lineart so I went ahead and made it monotone (since it would've taken longer to do a full color) with a few shadows and highlights to give it some substance as a stand alone piece

Well, I DID say when I first contacted you with the idea that it was a possibility. Kitak thinks it's a very good idea since, well, the pic is made FOR that two pronger, so yeah..... I just like the publicity is get's you and everybody get's to see these two in shorts, looking like boy scouts.... (So DAMN adorable!!!!! I just want to hug them... 'course, Philippe would probably stab me in the eye, but yeah..)

She does a really good job drawing our OCs, actually. I don't know how she does it, but it's like as soon as you see this picture or the one she drew of Charles a while back, it just...WORKS. I'm just hoping she'll accept my challenge to tackle on of Kel's.

Personally, I actually really like the old photograph look to it. It's rather appropriate for the setting - granted, photographs from WWII were usually black and white, and not sepia, but...let's just say it's vintage and leave it at that, 'kay? I love how this came out regardless.
By the way, the title for the collab fic is "Alea Iacta Est". "Fall of Tyranny" is the title for Part 1 and the title for Part 2...I won't be revealing until I post it.

I'm glad you like it, I was worried about a few things (the uniforms for one, those things always get to me!) and a few anatomical issues that just wouldn't work themselves out but all of that's really minor
That just sort of happened, I honestly had no plans past the initial linework and was just gonna color it at a later time. I guess you could call it inspiration then

lol - you're like our little circle's resident illustrator now by this point. Think about it: Kel, Philippe and I write more than we draw, you've illustrated something from each of our fics by this point, and you're also not afraid to attempt our OCs (which is a bit of a requirement if you're gonna try doing this).
Philippe told me that it would just be a lineart when he updated me on this. So I honestly wasn't expecting to see it coloured, like, at all. But I'm glad it is and I personally am happy with this as it is.
Yep, it's a subtitle, all right. We thought that would make more sense than putting either "Part One" or "Part Two" since he's posting Part One on his account and I'm posting Part Two on mine. This will help to minimize some confusion, we hope.

Lol, yep that's me I seemed to have found my own little niche here. Not that I haven't tried to do my own stuff...I've just been hit with sudden inspirations from you guys XD And OC's are not a problem, they present a fun little challenge

I think you do an interesting blend, as far as Hetalia fanart is concerned. As for the OC side of things...the only thing left is to tackle one of Kel's, non?
As for making sure that people won't treat my Part Two as a stand-alone by mistake...I've got my ways. So don't worry about that.

Ooh...I think that'll be neat to see. I personally prefer Lukas as a character. I don't know why, but Walker just...there's this nagging in the back of my mind whenever I see him - I think Kel's doing a great job with him, don't get me wrong! But perhaps I'm a bit more cautious approaching people's Hetalia OCs now than I used to be and I can't help but think that SOMETHING'S gonna happen to him. She might say I'm good at cliffhangers, but she's hiding something, that girl is.
However, that being said, I'd love to see your take on either of Kel's OCs - they certainly deserve the honour!

I could do either one to be honest. The nagging feeling I can understand too. I've told Kel already that she has a history of throwing curve balls so I may act like I'm prepared...but I'm not, lol. But it keeps me coming back and on the edge of my seat that's for sure

If you read my more recent Reviews on "Never Your Hero", you'll see what I mean. When I tell her that I'm worried something bad's going to happen to her characters, she gets all vague and stuff, talking about how she's got plans that she can't disclose. I know it's meant to be reassurance, but it's not like that for me at all. Why? Because I used the exact same tactic for her leading up to what I did with Charles, so...yeah, it's not a reassuring thought, to say the least.
But anyway, enough about me. I DO think you'll do a great job with either of them, so why not talk to Kel about it?
