Description Subtle huh? The "print's" available OR you can download and print it out yourself.

That's the beauty about choice, isn't it? Do you really only have the ones I offer? What if you decide to use it as a stencil to deface public walls OR to wipe your *%#$ with it, or to wrap it around a molotov cocktail after rubbing wax on the signature, ensuring that the one part that doesn't burn will be the part that links it to some freak in a distant country.

Or you can just close this wondow and forget you ever saw it.

Free will. Beautiful, isn't it?

So go ahead, choose.

Eh, I've been saying this for years. My parents hang out with a lot of extreem leftys. But they dont understand that their benevolent rulers only care about promoting more capitalism. Give all our money to "green" companys that just hire China to take care of all their waist.

And its pretty obvious why right's no good either. I prefer to think there's more than left and right, we live in a three dimentional world afterall. Or red and blue or gree and blue. There's an entire color spectrum.

I dont want any librulz telling me I cant keep my guns or telling me I cant smoke or promoting more taxes and capitalism.

And I dont want any conservatives telling me whats proper. What are they conserving anyways!?! Years ago it was ok to have slaves. Then it was wrong for different races to marry. And its still wrong for gays to marry, but pretty soon that will be "ok" too by their standards. If those conservatives were doing their job properly we'd all be Nazis by now.

No one listens to me though, they'r all just pawns.

Ah, the one's I'm thinking of are vegens (I dont eat meat either, but becous it subsodizes the evil farming industry that needs to die. I love meat) and a few perticipate in Wicca (I think they'r cool. But no institution is good for me). And there's one mother who wears T-shirts about breastfeeding and has many bumperstickers on breastfeeding and cant stop talking about breastfeeding (she seems a bit obsessed and I realy dont care).

I just dont fit in with any political class. Not any I know of. I'm an extreem anarchist, though. They wont get me to sign draft forms without losing some lives. I'll never vote. And the first government robot who tries to audit me is getting a shotgun up his ass.

And its not just government either. A lot of my mom's friends kids like Hot Topic and MTV cuz they think they'r being rebelious. They dont know that all their beloved band shirts and studded pants just promote more capitalism and suplys the guvernment with much money. They dont care when I try to explain why My Chemical Romance are a bunch of posuers. They dont understand the value of money, how much good it could do out of the government's greasy, stubby fingers.

Ooops, I'm rambling... But I'm soo bitter and tired of this subject, yet its the thing that drives me. I'm stepping off my soapbox now, meat puppets. Follow your respective leaders.

Stay on your soapbox mate, i enjoy hearing it . I'm actually a red-blooded socialist but I come from a fully working class "middle-of-australia" background so I usually scare shit out of bleeding heart leftys when I point out that certain wars are valid and unavoidable (don't say "violence isn't the answer man" unless you understand the f***ing question , without meat we wouldn't have evloved (enzymes, etc) and just because I want a better world for the future, doesn't mean I'm always going to be a nice person.

Yeah, know what you mean re: MTV, emo music etc, it's plastic rebellion that ppl don't ever realize is a product. The old saying still applies, "the hand you hold is the hand that holds you down" (I've managed to use that in 3 different songs now).

Ah well, ppl will either wake up or keep walking like sheep to the slaughterhouse, waking up only in time to offer one fading "bleat" as they realize what they've allowed to happen. Democracy Inc Pty Ltd. Go Back To Sleep, Your Government Is In Control. Bill Hicks RIP!

Well, if your inturested in Rambling then you'd be inturested in my comic "Fickle Apocalypse".

It'll go along with my Comic "Lead Apocalypse" in that the ritch people live on the cliff tops and the poor people live in the ghettos down in the valleys. It takes place some time in the future when some disaster happens and the ocean evaporates.

And stock brokers took edvantage of all the contractors' and utilitys' stocks which were going up after the apocalypse becous of all the business they had rebuilding. That left the contractors, power companys, and electric companys bankrupt and millions unemployed.

So, Fickle Apocalypse takes place in the hills which were once Mexico and Texas. And the main character is a rambling maniac who stand on a soap box and screams at rich and middle class people who walk by. The maniac speaks the truth, however, but you cant blame me for being a bit ironic, I have been called a maniac before.

Lead Apocalypse takes place in the valley that was once the Gulf of Mexico. Where people in the ghetto fight over territory with guns and such. Its not truely anarchy though, becous they'r driven to live up to the capitalists who live on the mountain. I think if there was no reason to hurt other people, most people would mind their own business (since there are more good then bad I think, if some Nazi kills a black guy all the black people would get all militant on his ass and it all balances out).

I'm talking too much again but I dont talk often. Expect much ramblings to come. Next few comic pages take place in Fickle Apocalypse.

Namaste

Ok, in my opinion, to create a truly fair and impartial democracy within a "capitalist" system (which, as a socialist I don't think is possible anyway due to it's basis of greed and exploitation, but that's another story) you need to remove the influence of rich companies, whose interest and objectives are completely different to that of the average person and society.

One way is to stop ALL corporate funding for ANY political party, no donations, no "gifts" of any kind, allow no political ads other than certain free time slots allocated to the registered parties, along with public and televised debates etc. That way, the corporations and special interest groups that currently control the major parties (2 in the US, more or less elsewhere) cannot push their agenda or "buy" their way into power" as oil companies, chemical companies, massive manufacturers like WalMart etc currently do.

All the time that money is the largest influence on the outcome, then the outcome will always be a "corporate friendly", one with a social facade but one whose base obligation is to provide a return to the investment of those companies. Any person who's commitment and agenda and commitment lies with the people and is at odds with the companies, people like Ralph Nader, Hugo Chavez, etc is not only NOT going to receive any corporate funding which makes campaigning in a capitalist system nearly impossible, but may even find themselves on the end of a massive "smear" campaign that's designed to discredit their views and aims.

The current system is no longer "direct" democracy since companies have inserted themselves in the process in order to affect the outcome and since the media is owned by companies with a corporate objective, their bias will always be towards the "corporate friendly" party. We are about to see a very good example of this in the US where ground support and contributions from the average person provided the funding for Obama and while he has massive people support, the companies support the Republicans which means the media bias is already clearly seen in the difference in coverage of the 2 camps.

"He who pays the piper, calls the tunes"

anyway mate, that's just my opinion and one way we can "cut the strings" short of a full peoples revolution.

Nomoskaar, in solidarity

Namaste!
1 - I really loved the long reply. So, I took time to reply it.
Yes! As you said, the penetration of the corporate giants into the lives and minds of their 'consumers' is very deep and diverse from top to bottom of hierarchy. Technology aids them too(or they use technology)
to penetrate into the mind space of an average citizen of any nation. Their core interests being different from that of ours, regular people. I agree. Well said, sir!
2 - My point/question now is - How far is education helping us in making the minds of people maturer(say till graduation)??
In my country, India, education is both enlightening and kinda 'unlearning' too. Two major chunks/outcomes of the basic education(here) are one a mature guy with socio political knowledge and the other being Techie(purely techie) and not to mention the degradation of Arts & Literature. In my case I started getting maturer about this stuff after I started working(that is after graduation).
So, how do we proceed in bringing the desired change? Using education or revolutions or how? Do you think it is any achievable?
I am not an expert in this sir, but I ask people like you here and around and just get to know better.
I once again thank you for your patient and long reply.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

scart In reply to toonrama [2008-09-15 14:25:00 +0000 UTC]

Sorry for the delay in replying, have been busy as hell with band & work.

I think the problem these days is that the point of "education" is no longer to "educate" but to "train", which is a very different thing. People are trained to do a simple job or even a complex job but not given the skills to be analytical, to apply reasoning and logic to everything they see, watch, hear, read and experience. My opinion is that it's because the majority in power don't want this to happen. Not in any "mass conspiracy" sense but simply because basic mono-training costs a lot less than overall education and also because mass consumerism requires creating and supplying the basic "want" factor and if people start asking whether the products or services they are told to "want" are going to fulfill them, make them happy or satisfy any real need they have apart from the superficial "gimme gimme" factor, they might well find that the answer is "No".

It also seems that "adolescence" is prolonged for as long as possible in order to keep people in a state of immaturity, possibly to prolong that "niche market" and create full wage earning adults that still buys like a child or teenager does, spend lots of money on "toys" and considers every cent of spare cash to be "spending money". This creates essentially a non-thinking source of money for those that run these industries. As we've both said, the interests of the powerfull/elite/rich in any country or culture are never the same as as those of the average worker or person. Whether it be a hotel in America, a Call Centre in India, a factory in Australia or a mine in China, the intention and need of the worker is to provide food, clothing & shelter for themselves and their family. The intention of the owner is to pay the worker as little as possible as it takes to keep her/him working, cut any and all overheads and increase profits using pretty much any means possible, regardless of how this impacts on the lives, health and mental well being of the people that actually create all this wealth for them.

I think the only real way to change things is to encourage people to think about what they are being presented with and to encourage them to ask "why" a particular govt, newspaper, tv station or person is giving them a particular story from a particular angle. Why are we told that workers should be carefull not to ask for too much and overheat the economy but the media never says that the CEO's of companies should stop recieving million dollar pay increases. Why do the media give racist, classist and nationalistic views of events if they are supposed to be impartial? Until people question what the motives of the corporate owned media is they will spend their entire lives with blind folds on.

I suppose my basic overall veiw is this: I'm a socialist, which some consider to be somewhere between a communist & a capitalist. I personally think that the system needs to be changed to the point that all essentials, that is all housing, water, energy, food should be run for the sole purpose of provision, not for profit. These things are the essential life blood of the entire world and leaving them up to the whims of the "market" or susceptible to the greed of a wealthy few to me is the opposite of "civilized". Luxuries and non-essentials, i.e. candles, diamonds, toys and other superfluous and essentially "unnecessary" items can be bought and sold as they are now since their requirement is not essential to sustain life and therefore if someone gets rich from making, trading and selling these goods, as long as they're not exploiting people in the process, then it's of no concern. I have no problem with people becoming well off as long as their doing so does not hurt, cause harm, or take away from others. When it does, then they can safely assume that sooner or later someone will come knocking and seek to adress the inequality or injustice.

If you have a system that isn't fair and isn't based on "NEED", as opposed to "GREED", then you have to try and keep people distracted from that using whatever means possible. Whether it's racism, war, hate, terrorism, first world toys, consumerism, celebrity scandals, crime, fear, whatever, people have to work out whether what they're being told is based in reality or whether it's just the view of the govt, media owner or the rich & elite.

We're constantly told why "those people" (meaning those of other faiths, races, countries, etc) are different/bad/wrong and workers and the "common people" in the countries around the world need to work out that we have more in common with each other than we ever do with the rich in our own countries. Those that exploit us, oppress us and get rich off our labour, that seek to divide us, dis-empower us and keep us all from creating movements that require no masters or slaves and that work more on the needs of the human race rather than the "wants" of a few selfish people.

The only way I know of to do this is to use my art, music and words to try to inspire people to think but I think each person has to decide how they think they can best change the world for the better. This combined with activism on issues that I think need to be spoken out about is what I see as the way forward for myself but each person has to make up their own mind.

My heroes are bands like Rage Against The Machine & Dead Kennedys, writers like Noam Chomsky and Arundhati Roy, comedians like Bill Hicks and activists like Mandella, Martin Luhter King, Che, etc and they all do/did things their own way. We've each got to decide what we believe, what we need to do about it and the best way to do it. Then we've just got to try and do it.

Anyway, that's a bit rambling but hope it answers your question.

cheers mate, in solidarity.

Yeah! It seems to me like universities and 'educational' institutes are created to create 'work force'
and not to 'educate' people. Same here in India. Nothing less.
a - To put it crudely, there is an industrialist who needs a lot more labor than there are for a particular industry of his and so universities and degrees are created. And I have
witnessed/victimised this change/trend myself over the last decade or so, being a 'student' myself then.

b - May be you have missed out a point about 'Education' being 'Corporatised' or 'commercialised.' In India
(certain parts) education is such an awesome business. You can reap money with scores of students
passing out from each private institution EACH YEAR. I feel like - Oh Shit!! look at the fee, look at the number of students aspiring for this course.
(Later, ofcourse, I learned that life itself is a bigger university/school where all of us are students for an entire life time without fee, which is a different story).

Ah!! I just loved what you said about the 'rolonged adoscelence' and the 'cost cutting' tendency of the
owners trying to squeeze in money from every corner and time slice(private & public) of their (own)human resource. I loved everything you wrote there I specially feel that I was myself a 'rolonged adoscelent' in my life, those years .
What lacks and what saddens me is the lack of ethic or visionary thoughts of the corporate biggies. The future really worries me looking at it this way. But gotta stay bold and look straight in the eye when I come across any injustice (or their greed) till it eats me away completely. I always have a feeling deep down that everything(I mean the circumstances or challenges AND COMFORTS of everyday life) that we experience in our professional and personal lives are created by them to control our body, and our thought

Definitely as you say, art has to inspire people with the dissemination of right knowledge. Awareness. That seems a natural objective/responsibility of artists.
I know how much I was deprived of ' right knowledge' when I was a teen, a school kid and a grad and a thousand friends of mine back home. How much I was under the impression, under the shadow/crushing wheels of the commercial Juggernaut, and how much I am brainwashed.

In this connection lemme show you this man, Purandare at this [link]
This man has a lot of reading stuff. Go through his writings and works at your
leisure.

This also reminds me to tell ya about my next work that I wanted to name 'The Control' which I am
drawing since a looonnngg time now. I can't wait to finish and post it.
The point here is that it is something that looks like this work 'Choose the puppet'
And that's what stopped me for a long time here staring at this and trying to relate/compare with
what I am drawing right now. Lovv this work.

I am really surprised with your long reply, sir. I loved it and didn't expect. I respect/sincerely appreciate the time it took for you to write down that stuff.
I am all ears to you. ---> I love words/writings of Mandella, Martin Luhter King, Che, Arundhati Roy, Oscar Wilde, Swami Vivekananda, MK Gandhi, Bertrand Russel, Henry David Thoreau, Ralph Waldo Emerson and a bunch of local Indian writers from all the times, Einstein, Winston Churchill, Mark Twain, Ambrose Bierce, and a lot lot more... These guys are awesome.
Music - More towards instrumental because I have problem understanding the western accent of English
in the songs. That way, I love all kindsa music, not specifically any. World music, Tribal, Rock, Country,
Indian contemporary & Classical, Western symphony. Absolutely love all of the above.
