Description

I painted this as a favor for Amin, from the Islamic Azad University. Pencil lines were done by him..

Xiphactinus vs Cretoxyrhina in oceans of Kansas about 100 to 82 million years ago :

Xiphactinus a large, 4.5 to 5 m (15 to 20 feet) long predatory bony fish that lived in the Western Interior Sea, over what is now the middle of North America, during the Late Cretaceous.

The remains of a Xiphactinus were found within a large specimen of Cretoxyrhina (a Prehistoric shark) collected by Charles H. Sternberg. The specimen is on display at the University of Kansas Museum of Natural History.

Great!
Ever since I heard that story of Xiphactinus fossils found within a Cretoxyrhina I have kept wondering how the shark could have succeeded in doing that... I mean, Xiphactinus would strike back wouldn't it? Your depiction of it is really astounding! MAGNIFICO!

THAT is one big fish.... I wonder how the shark will actually eat THAT mouthful....

Thoughts on the pic AWESOME: the colouring is much like one would think it would be like underwater; not that I spend my time holding my breathe to actually do so (The fear of drowning and suffocating gets in the way) , but otherwise: a truly beautiful picture....

I still don't see how that shark will eat that....

Those teeth on that fish are freaking me out...
