Added 8/30/08Alright, then, I took another crack at him. I like him a bit better here, though he could still be more "Allosaurish."
This one has a shorter neck, and a (hopefully) less dragonish head, I changed up his markings a bit, and gave him the three claws someone mentioned. Does he look better now?

Well, your first shot at Diablo struck me as a step in the right direction, and this is no exception. Those foreclaws are excellent; the striping & "eye-patch" bestow a certain demoniac elegance, as do the brow-horns...and that little spiky goatee makes me grin.
The head might be a tad compact by allosaur standards, but hey-he's a dino-shaped deity, not a natural organism. A bit of stylization only seems in order here.
All that said, my only suggestion involves extending that row of dorsal spines out over the hips. But don't lose any sleep over that one.

Yeah, the head is a tad small, but better shaped than the last one at least.
I was going to do that, but then the whole "dragon" thing from before crept into my head, and I didn't do it. >_>

Much better looking, I can really see the Allosaur-y traits more. This guy was always one of my favorites to play as anyway

I know he's supposed to be a T-rex, but something about Diablo just screams "allosaur" to me.
I like this design in a lot of ways. It looks sinister, yet contained. Intelligent, but feral. Ready to lash out at the slightest provocation, but not a second before.
That said, I think he still looks a little too dragonish for my taste. It might have something to do with my irrational, bloodthirsty bias, but I feel his feline-chest and tiny(as far as carnosaurs go) head don't quite work. He looks evil, but he doesn't look particularly menacing. At least not next to, say, Sauron or Blizzard.
Vertigo's got the whole slinky, sinister thing for her. I've always seen Diablo as more chaotic evil than neutral or lawful. If you wanna use D&D terms, that is.
Of course, technically Vertie would be chaotic evil, what with embodying insanity, but.... I've still always seen Diablo as something along the lines of a bratty little kid, turned satanic. His being smaller than Sauron is part of the reason, I suppose.
But that's just me.

I wanted him to be sleek but deadly. That's just the way I see him, though I can see why most wouldn't like it that way. I can't please everyone completely, I guess, expecially with such a well loved character.

Yep, he looks more stream lined concept wise. His arms are decent weapons and can hold and rake things. His neck doesn't fold in on itself so the snake/dragon thing isn't an issue. The only thing could think of to make his head more Allosaur/Carnosaur or whatever is the to maybe add a spined throat warble to his neck. I found it rather odd that for a creature that breathes humongous amounts of fire, his neck is rather narrow, smooth, and vulnerable. Keep in mind there is absolutely nothing wrong with his current neck, I just briefly wondered how it would look if Diablo's neck glowed and expanded when he was about to release firey hell. Some extra muscle and skin around the throat with spines could further enhance that aggressive appearance and give him some slack when he needs to enhale for his next batch of pyromanical fury. Other than that, you've handled every other issue very well and he looks positively ferocious

*as a side note, having more fingers and longer arms just because GodzillaSamurai did that to his version of Diablo doesn't make his perfect or yours inferior. Its the same character, so things that enhance or improve the character should be used if you really feel that would make him look better. It also helps to have a particular theme in mind for a redesign if you HAVE to make it different from everyone elses. I for instance, enjoy taking the pros of both his versions and the pros of the originals and meshing them into a totally new hybrid variation. Either way your version is unique enough by its style alone to be considered its own variation, three fingers, horns, or not.*

The allosaur influence is definitely more apparent in this one - and yet he still retains that wonderfully evil personality that flowed from your first version, which is just fantastic. Brilliant job again!
