Description This is a male treecat. Treecats are a character created by David Weber for a series of books which unfortunately I haven't read (I tried but can't find anywhere that sells them yet) so this is a request for a friend.

Treecats are six-legged mammals native to the planet Sphinx, where they are a protected species. The colonists of the planet first became aware of the treecats when they made a raid on the greenhouses and stole all the celery. Thats the bit that gets me interested, the weird obsession with celery... I really need these books now. So anyways, treecats have 6 legs, 3 fingers and a poseable thumb. Male treecats are larger than females and have slightly different fur and eye colour.

You would not beleive how hard it was to get a cat looking natural with 6 legs. It was a huge problem, and even the book covers my friend found didn't help, they showed treecats sneakily posed in positions where no legs or only front legs showed. I found precisely one picture with 6 legs and it looked like a caterpilla but I think I got there eventually.

My own cat thinks treecats are insane, she has enough problems keeping two back legs under control nevermind having four of them.

Done in watercolour pencils and ink. This is also in my elfwood gallery (here ).

David Weber kindly let the publisher Baen post free copies of at least the first book of the Honor Harrington series on the site's free library. The first book is On Baslisk Station and can be read online or downloaded in several formats including rich text and html. The site address is [link] and if you are into ground pounders instead of navy John Ringo is also worth taking a look at. The Dahak series is also one of my favorites.

Wow, awesome job! The tree looks amazing! It's a cool species, too. What exactly is this book series called? It sounds....interesting.

This is all I can find at the moment...

"You need to read 'More Than Honor', then 'Worlds of Honor', then 'Changer of Worlds'; those are three short story anthologies that are chock full of treecat information. Also, the main character in the regular series has been adopted by a treecat, so you get bits and pieces of knowledge from reading them as well."

I'm sure I was told the title of the series but I don't know where I put it if its not in the description...The author name is in the decription though.

I found them on amazon quite easily last time I looked but I still don't have any of the books I keep forgetting in favour of DVDs...

XD

I probably won't buy them for a while. I have a bad habit of reading more than five books at once....right now I think I'm up to ten...maybe nine...
