Full View, otherwise you'll miss the details!This was a portrait project for my drawing 1 class. The drawing is of the "Afghan Girl", a very famous National Geographic photo, by Steve McCurry for anyone that didn't know.

I own the "National Geographic 100 Best Pictures" book, and photocopied this one, since we had to bring in a reference photo that was in black and white. Since this is entirely for educational study purposes, the photocopying was allowed, and as I am unsure of the rules on posting a study of a famous photo, please go easy on me.
the drawing is 21 x 14 inches, graphite on Strathmore 500 paper
I spent somewhere around 20 to 30 hours on it, and I made an A

Thank you! After creating this image I looked up the documentary and was shocked to find out that she was 12 years old when this was taken. For a while, I felt like I had failed at depicting her age accurately, but now I am okay with it. I feel like at the time this picture was taken, after everything that she had gone through, she was as mature as an adult.

Thanks! I'm not sure if my teacher gives +'s on anything... he's kinda grumpy.... though I know it didn't help that I kind of waited till the end of the semester to turn a project that was supposed to take three weeks.... I just got carried away!

ur welcome, that was really awesome... i consider anyone who can draw real people really talented... it's extremely difficult to draw people, and that was just unreal how alike ur drawing was to the real thing
