Logo I did back in 2009 for a well known music producer from the US.As always, typography is 100% custom, no fonts used.

Nice type! How do you ensure consistency in your letters?
I assume you duplicate pieces where ever you can, and make sure you use the same line thickness'?
Are there any other particular techniques you use?

yeah, you're right about the type. basically it comes all from one or two shapes, like the O and the N. The rest indeed is duplicating and making small changes to create new letters.
about the grid, I never use real grids, just creating guides here and there, but basically having kind of a grid always "in my mind".

Sounds like we work in similar ways haha 
It seems lots of people start in Illustrator, but I find Photoshop is way easier for things like this because you can sketch.
I usually use Ps until I have a tight sketch, then move to Ai.

I'm using PS for the most vector shizzle cause I hate the pathfinder. find it much more easier in Ps. But Ps does not have vector strokes, though. Gotta switch to Ai from time to time...

Haha I have to agree, output's the important part. Though I don't find it that difficult to use, it's definitely saved me a lot of time in the past.

im doing it in photoshop most of the time with the pen tool and other vector tools, but you can achieve the same in illustrator of course!
