This piece is rather amazing, it's definitely very warm and inviting as well as opened to various interpretations. I can say that the insects and small colorful flowers washed with the gentle glow of the sun are a remarkable detail, for I feel without them, this piece would give the viewer an impression of sadness as if the subject is lost. But that isn't to say that one doesn't feel melancholy whilst viewing it regardless. This is not a bad thing either. Personally I would have added a greener tone or shade to the ground in between the hill and the log, the shading is sublime, its only the color that threw me off. All said, this is a beautiful piece of art. Well Done.

Ok that is really helpful. Thank you for taking the time to write this thoughtful comment

I think I will overwork the painting a bit and maybe try to add more green between the hill and the log. And maybe add more grass or mushrooms on and in front of the log .

At first glance it is has the a whimsical appeal.
The depth of the dens forest yet with minimal details.
The leaves are exquisite, as well as the atmosphere in the image. Teh stone the fairy sits on is well detailed.

Critique: As magnificent is the leaves in the trees are and how well the fog makes the trees seem to belong to a forest, you may add silhouettes of how the light cuts through the trees. The inside of the log in the foreground has little to show on the inside to the left.

To sum it up: The artwork is well realised, and has depth. The tranquil atmosphere evokes a sense of wonder. Despite the dominating blues, greens and browns, the hints of colour are a lovely touch.
All in all a wonderful cover art and whimsical forest scene

thank you so much for commenting. I'm glad to receive such a positive and helpful critique . Yes you are right some light silhouettes would perhaps look better . As soon as I get time I'll work on the painting a bit more -

You just keep improving every time you post a new work. The rate is almost scary to look at! O_O

This painting is very effective and bordering on perfect. There are very little things I would address that could still benefit from editing. One is the tree on the right. The bottom part of the trunk is good, as well as the left side, but towards the top, some issues pop up. Starting from above the blooming white plant, the right side (from the viewer's perspective) looks somehow flat. It probably has something to do with the shading and the lack of indication that the vertical elements get closer together to increase the illusion of curvature. You have two light stripes that are about the same thickness and not all that much difference in value either. The other thing to address is that the top forks into four branches (or sub-trunks, I don't know what to call them), when it seems unlikely that a natural tree would suddenly fork like that, or if it did, each fork would spread in different direction like 12, 3, 6, 9 o'clock when viewed from above, rather than them all being arranged in a row like fingers. The fallen tree in the front could also benefit from a more rough texture. But overall, these things I mentioned are minor compared to how well everything else works. The lighting and composition are great and serve to draw focus on the main character. The character looks perfect at a glance and I see no need to take a magnifying glass to it to try to pick out possible errors. The foliage is beautiful and luminous, repeating the color of the knoll and sets a dreamy atmosphere. The pairing of green, purple and brown with a little bit of white and those tiny red flowers, is in perfect balance. The texture effects on the stone and grass are great, too.

I think I first ran into your works in March this year and you already had some of the magic back then but also pretty major issues. You've been constantly learning new things and in the last 7 weeks, your rate of development seems to have accelerated considerably. I get the feeling you're close to reaching a major breakthrough. I'm glad I signed up as a watcher earlier so I won't miss when it happens. You got all of these magical worlds inside your imagination and you're constantly getting better at transferring them onto a canvas so that others can enjoy them as well. This piece is already so good that if I saw it in a printed book, I wouldn't hesitate to pay for it.

Ilona it is such a nice thing to hear, that you think I improved .  I'm blushing a bit reading this  . I really tried to paint a lot lately. especially Inktober made me draw everyday and I think that helped . But I also have a full-time job and paint mostly at night, so I'm not sure if I have enough time to improve contantly. But such words really make me try harder so thank you so much for your support. Btw. I think I already told you that I can see contant improvement in your paintings too. They always somehow stand out . I really hope you keep going too and find time to paint more again!! We can do it

Freeing. I love the light on the top of the hill.  Also reminds me of trips to sacred standing stones in Ireland and England. This work evokes the power of place and the peace possible through quiet observation of the earth.

I'm glad you like it and that it awakens a feeling and/or reminds you of past trips. didn't know you have been to Ireland and England? It is also one of my goals to visit that places (as well as scotland) one day . I miss that feeling when being surrounded completely by nature and stillness. It's time to visit such a place again soon

wow this is very well done o: I love how the girl and the stone are in the background of the drawing. Well done

One thing that keeps catching my eye here is that the sky kind of looks like they are underwater (but also like a really foggy sky)
I'm guessing fog was the intent but just to throw out that.

Also another little thing, the inside of the log that is shown looks a bit odd since its kind of blue instead of a darker brown, Again I don't know if that was an intentional thing but maybe odd a little more darkness instead of all foggy blue.

This is a higher skill level than my drawing so I can't do a full critique but I hope this is insightful enough

Hello,

thank you so much for your comment and your helpful critique. I think you are right and the bottom part of the painting needs a bit more refinement . I'll work on it as soon as I get the time
