Description Final (?) submission of the Tomtate scientific illustration.

I have a new scanner, and I'm struggling with the settings when scanning things in. I'm losing the vibrancy of the original drawing and the contrast is off. I'm trying to find the right combination of adjustments with the scanner itself and PS... It's all making me very unhappy. Anyone have any suggestions..?

Very nice, I love the eye!
It seems so alive!

If you're still having trouble with scanning your work and making it look good on screen (the curse of every traditional artist!) there are some tutorials on here to help restore the image, like; [link] and [link]

Fighting with the scan is always something of an issue, especially being a pencil artist. The more color I use, the more reflective it is to the scanner... I use PS CS2 to the best of my limited ability. It is what it is...

Thank you. I thought this was a little bit boring of a fish, so I tried to put in as much detail as I could.

Hey, thanks for the tip, and for the fav!

I don't do any backgrounds. I'm actually working on a large project that will be using all of these fish. It's a big secret. Very hush-hush.

So don't tell anyone, ok?

I use a photomanipulation program to regain any contrast and saturation lost in scanning or photographing my work. It's all the advice I've got.

I really like this one. Nice scale work.

Thank you for trying to help! As with a lot of traditional artists, I'm not so good with digitally adjusting my work. I guess I just need to spend more time learning how to do it properly. And thank you for the compliment, too!
