I tried this out recently. It's only a shame that vector is more my thing, the software is decent for an online thing. I do think you could take some inspiration for improvements from some of the Oekaki programs out there though

I am a proud artist that uses dA Muro XD

I actually prefer it over Corel, except sometimes it glitches, like when I move something, and then later on click cntl+Z and the whole picture does this weird glitch to where there's a part of it copied somewhere else <<""

Besides that though, I love it XD

Awesome video, explains Muro really well. I haven't used it yet, but since I don't own a copy of Photoshop or anything, now I'm really considering it.

I just wonder why's it called "Muro"? o.o I mean... that's "Wall" in Brazilian Portuguese and probably on some other language(s). I'm just curious... anyone knows why is it called Muro?

I hope to be getting a graphic tablet for Christmas so I'm going to be experimenting a lot more with digital artwork. I've never done it before so I'm super excited!

I downloaded Google Chrome's muro app so I'm definitely going to be playing around with it so I can become more familiar with the program.

When it first came out, I wasn't sure how to do much with it, but I've seen people do some pretty awesome things with it. I cannot wait to see what I can do with a little goofing around on it and some practice. :3

I wasn't aware Deviantart was officially calling itself a social networking site.

I don't know about official, but that's kind of what it is isn't it?

Itti In reply to scir [2010-12-10 03:19:49 +0000 UTC]

I would have hoped not.

Although I have heard a lot of people say that dA is more about the socialising and less about the art these days.

But to say that its main purpose is social networking would imply that you could get rid of all the deviations and just leave forums and chat... and maybe groups, but groups with no art in, and dA would still have the same main purpose.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AaronBradford In reply to Itti [2010-12-10 04:41:49 +0000 UTC]

Well, deviantART is a social network - one of artists

A social network doesn't just mean it's social, full stop. Nothing else. Would you not call RedBubble, Flickr, or other such sites social networks?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Itti In reply to AaronBradford [2010-12-10 21:34:41 +0000 UTC]

I would call Flickr a photo networking site. I hardly ever use RedBubble so I don't know what it's like community-wise.

I didn't say it meant it is only social. But calling it a social networking site would imply that its primary purpose is social.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AaronBradford In reply to Itti [2010-12-10 23:51:27 +0000 UTC]

The sharing, discussion and critique of artwork is a social activity, isn't it?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Itti In reply to AaronBradford [2010-12-11 16:35:29 +0000 UTC]

I suppose you could view it that way. But emailing friends is a social activity too, and you wouldn't call hotmail a social networking site.

I think the thing is that the term "social networking site" is usually applied to a different kind of site - or what I think of as a different kind of site. If this was just a Facebookalike where we all happened to be artists, then yeah. But I think the fact that we are all viewing and sharing art makes it kind of different.

In my opinion, anyway.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AaronBradford In reply to Itti [2010-12-11 21:28:34 +0000 UTC]

But it is. It's structured in a different way, but the interaction here is just like on Facebook.

I didn't say that all places where social activity take place should be called a social network, but that a place like deviantART where there is mass public social activity on the internet makes it in my view a social network.

I do get what you mean - it's hard to think of deviantART in the way of Facebook, as apparently it's all about the art here Well, I'll tell you that it's not. It's about all the different artists and their interactions.

Jay-the-Great In reply to scir [2010-12-09 20:52:31 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I guess it is now that you say it. I suppose I've just never heard of it being described that way before; when taking about dA I've always used the term "online art community". But in the end I guess the two terms pretty much mean the same thing, don't they?
