How long have you had him? He must be pretty trained and loyal not to fly off. I couldn't imagine bringing by bird out and just placing him on a tree.

I've had Tico for 5 years. Unfortunately I'm not able to bring her to college with me so she's with my parents right now.
Haha. She's not trained at all, I just clip her wings. If I don't then she flies into doors, windows, walls, etc, so I figure it's healthier to keep her cut. Or else I wouldn't do it.

Oh, I'm sorry. I'm dreading a few weeks because I need to leave mine with a friend, and he's never been gone. Probably will think he's gonna be at the noisy store again..
I'm to scared to trim Pepper's wings, I'd die if I messed up. He's indoors, anyway, and all he uses them for is flying onto me, and onto the floor if he wants attention, or gets scared.

Is your bird a Quaker, too?
Oh clipping a bird's wings is easy. All I do is use a regular pair of scissors and trim the flight feathers (the long ones at the end).
But if he's not hurting himself, then I most likely wouldn't do it.

He's just having his grow out, so yeah. Not really hurting himself, just a little ill coordinated with landings. He's getting better.
I know, but I'm just worried I'll mess up, so he can just keep them. Besides, they'd look nice.
Yep, he is. (: Name is Pepper, little cutie. Got him December 21st.

I agree, they do look a lot better with their flight feathers on. Very pretty blue.
How did you find out your bird is a male?
I thought my bird was a male, but then she started laying eggs 5 years after I got her and it threw everyone off.

It's a don't ask, don't tell. If you wanted to, you could have her sexed, like with a feather or a drop of blood. If you had her egg shells, you could do it that way, too. If Pepper lays eggs, then I'll faint, and he'll be a she.
They are pretty. It'd be a little amusing if the blue quakers had green flight feathers, wouldn't it?

Yeah, I thought about having her sexed when I thought she was a he, but I didn't want to spend the $75 on it. I figured I would just settle for pretending to know.
Hahaha. That's about what I did. I was actually all the way across the country when my mom called and said that Tico laid an egg. It was like my best friend went through a sex change. I still call my bird a "he" sometimes. It's hard to get used to after 5 years!
I had to go look up a picture of a blue quaker. For some reason I thought they had green flight feathers... I just never thought about it before. Haha. And yes I agree, it would be pretty amusing.

I'd probably freak out if Pepper laid one, especially if he tried to eat it. He tries to eat everything.. My hair, my glasses.. He actually knows how to pull them off my face.. Gahhh, crazy little bird.
They're so light blue, but the green ones are so much darker.. It's kind of funny.

Tico! I love how the leaves in the background look almost painted because of the focus. I'm going to steal your camera, because I am envious.
