Ok there is actually a story behind this image. My mother of all people wanted to me to do a progressive piece of Usagi. When I was little I did up a lot of pictures of Usagi and she wanted me do up one that she could put up beside the ones I drew when I was kid. 8 years old. In fact Usagi was one of the first ever comics I read growing up. I read an issue of Usagi before I even picked up an issue of Turtles. In the TMNT toy line I always wanted to play with my Usagi action figure. Putting him before the Turtles. I took that damn toy everywhere. After getting this back from Courtland, a tear ran down my cheek and I don't know why. I guess this one was kind of personal to me. And I still haven't shown my mother yet but when I do it may not have the same impact but I sure she'll love it in more of a sentimental kind of way-not so much subject matter. Guess it makes me very morbid what wih all the blood in it. And I would like to take this moment to thank my buddy Court for doing such a AWESOME job on this one. This one is by far the best piece I have ever done. And I hope you guys like it too

This is the most impressive, most awesome fan picture of Miyamato Usagi that I have ever seen. I hope Stan Sakai takes the time to browse dA and sees this. Cheers! By the way, recently was the 100th Dark Horse issue of Usagi Yojimbo (*"not really the 100th issue of UY," lol - it's a gag). Tons of Stan Sakai's fellow cartoonists and friends came together and used an entire issue of UY just to celebrate it. But, counting Stan's Fantagraphics and Image (or was that Mirage? ...I forget which...) issues of UY, he has far exceeded 100 sometime long ago.

actually Cartoon will. It was 160 or something and I got the issue. Never miss one, 10 months out of the year. been following Usagi for the good portion of my life. favorite book ever. And I'm glad you like it. I'm curentlly working on a New one that will be better then this one. so don't go to fare
