hey! pricing commissions is pretty tough, i still have a lot of trouble with it!
my own personal strategy is to charge roughly $10/hour (since i've drawn enough to know roughly how long each category of commission will take me). it's a lot lower than the minimum wage where i'm from (australia) and even lower than what i get paid at my part time job, but  with my skillset and my current target market it's about right.
of course when you start working professionally you should charge much, much more than that! on sites like dA however, people aren't quite so loaded. so i usually start at $10/hour and see where that gets me, and adjust accordingly depending on how many responses i get

one of my friends wrote some really great posts here which have even more links to pricing at the bottom:

I'm scared to overprice because I'm newer to this and even when I did it for cheap which now I understand was underpaid I only got one buyer. Any tips to bring more clients? Also thank you for answering I understand it a Lil more about how to price it and I rlly underpriced my art.

that's a hard one.. honestly i didn't get that many commissions either. it can be really discouraging, but just try to advertise as many places as you can! even outside of dA. i'm not sure how the forums are here since i've never checked, but you can try advertising there? finding people can be really tough but don't lose heart and no problem!
