This is the CPEF(Companhia Paulista de Estradas de Ferro) nº1 I don't know to much about this locomotive and not founded to much in the internet, it is one 4-4-0, the year of inauguration of the first stretch of the railway was 1868, I belive this locomotives was built maybe one year before, this locomotive should be in a museum but I don't know why this is abandoned, the locomotive is in the abandoned maintanance shed of the CP in the city of Jundiai, state of São Paulo, Brazil.Related content

Yes, I really don't know why the ABPF (Associação Brasileira de Preservação Ferroviaria/ Brazilian Association of Railroad Preservation) don't restore this, maybe some trouble with the DNIT, an governamental agency of transportation that hold all the abandoned railroad material that was not bought by private companies after the privatization of the statal companies RFFSA and FEPASA (Ferrovia Paulista Sociedade Anonima), this locomotive was in the CPEF museum that belonged to the FEPASA, after its privatization the roll material inside the museum passed to belong to the DNIT and was abandoned, the ABPF have a section in the nearby city of Campinas where they do the restaurations and operates a tourist train.

A neat engine! It is French and American style! Like the splashers on the pony truck and drivers! The cowcatcher is weird to the ones I am used to. Brilliant find! Does it still have a tender?
