Description This is for blossemz on instagram.

I just realised when I did this illustration that I hardly ever do light hair. It is usually dark in color. This posed an interesting challenge that I did not foresee. The darker hair means that I can get away with stuff because of the shadows. You do not really have to see the individual strands in the way. I sort of did lighter hair with the neon portrait I did but that was shorter hair. This is long hair so it was tricky to do without cheesing it in someway. Also the strands of hair that you see overlapping was something I did after the fact. The hair did not look as vibrant and cool as the original (which had the strands). When I finally did them it brought the whole image together in a way I did not foresee and I am happy with how natural it made the whole image. Before it looked almost artificial.

I tried my hand at some brushes again. I was going to use some for the face but I did not want to mess up what I had already achieved. I need to learn brushes a bit better. I did apply to the sweater. I also applied to the dust in the air. This might be the best dust in any image that I have ever done. I have really REALLY wanted to add dust in an image in a non "STUPID" way.

The original photo was a little washed out so I used references from other images as well as increasing the vibrancy on the original photo to use to get my illustration at a more vibrant look. I also jazzed up the sweater. Was kind of an accident. I saw a different image that had more vibrant colors that matched the sweater she was wearing. So instead of color picking from the source photo which was a little washed out I picked from the reference image to make the sweater pop more.

I also changed the background. I wanted her to standout from the background that was there before. I think it works.I applied the lens blur effect again to have more of  that photograph look. I still need to learn how to better apply it.

Overall I am very happy with the dust and the hair xD Although the eyes came out really cool as well. Was not really planned to happen that way. Was also kind of a happy accident.
