Description
Part of a series featuring the central villains from the Final Fantasy games. I have had Kuja done and posted on DA as the original pencil work for sometime, though just overlayed all the CG colouring in the past few days. I hope you enjoy this, as well as all of the other pieces in this series as they near completion.You'll note that some of these projects were done with a model or actor used as reference. Main reason i don't alter features so that my chosen reference isn't obvious is due to my huge love of 'fantasy casting', if you will. I love toying around with the idea that i'm actually casting for a film when i'm going through photo's, picking out the most suitable reference for the given character.
Who knows, if SquareEnix ever decides to produce live action films of the FF games, maybe they'll use some of these ideas!

I completely LOVE this. The realism that you put into him is amazing. Most people think he is stupid and girly, and with one look at this, they will be put in line. Honestly, this is the BEST picture of him that I have ever seen. I can't wait to see you finish all of The Fallen.

I love how you made him more masculine. Everyone is so critical about his feminine appearance in FFIX. Although he was originally female in Japan's version of the game...^__^

I absolutely LOVE your style, and your Ultimecia depiction is beautiful. The only this is I've always thought of Kuja as being more pale, and way more femanine [sp?] I LOVE the face, perfect. I also saw his hair as being a little more platinum, less blonde. XD <3 I say all of these from personal opinion and abservation [also, I'm extremely sorry if he IS pale, and IS platinum in this picture, I'm color blind but it just looks a little off to me >.<] Otherwise, it's godly. You know you've got talent, and you aren't afraid to use it! <3 <3 Also, I'de LOVE to see you make a life-version of Vivi, I think that would be quite difficult to pull off, but I think you could do it XD.

Thanks alot for taking the time to post such great perspective on this piece. Helps me out alot. I did in fact alter him from the original character a bit, primarily just to try and pull him more into the concept of the real world (rather, if the character was to be cast in a film). While his body is Fimmel's own, and decently muscled, i agree with you that i should have made his hair a little less blonde.
Overall, "anime" styles do have a way of blending the feminine and masculine together in character likes these, which is another reason why i wanted to better define him as a powerful male. Still seductive and very egotisticle, but unquestionably a man. 
I may just have to update this one a sometime though for little traits like the hair, etc.

Everything is nice an all, but Kuja is supposed to be somewhat feminine and pale, right? I think you've bulked him up to much. Keep in mind, he doesnβt use brute force to battle, he's a magician and a summoner. But otherwise, good job.

Well to me Kuja is one of those kinda guys who is indefinetely a wimp...I mean part of his character was that he was powerful mage. In the game he even sends you off oilvert or whatever its called for him because there's an anti magic forcefiel there. Im really lamenting this, because I hate this actor but I think the guy that plays legolas(cant remember his name at the moment..) would make a good kuja....I really hate him but i think he would make a great kuja
