DOOD! PRE-HERECY HELMETS FTWTW!!!
On the 40k Aspects, I'm writing a story that depicts my Commissar and his change from the Imperium to the Tau. On that same note: I'm starting Tau officially on Saturday.
Thought to myself: 'Tau got me into 40k, so why the f**k don't I have anything of theirs?'
Oh well, see ya soon!

A commissar turning to the Tau? You better have a very good idea in your mind, cuz that's like turning the Pope's Valet into a Buddhist o_O

Well, I'll say during a retreat in the T'au Cluster during a crusade launched by the Velkriege (My army) my Ccommissar and all of his men will be left behind by the Navy when about 3 Manta Missile Destroyers and a bunch of ships fleet in under radar and force the fleet away. (Damn navy, not under the command of the ground >.< )
After this, he'll make a last stand against the new forces. After a gruesome war of attrition and gore of about a year, Rel will surrender to the Greater Good. He will be made a Shas'O after much debate by the Ethereal caste on T'au and will lead a new force into imperial space. When it comes to pass, he will turn on the Tau. He will then be known through-out the Imperium as a hero who survived.
Meh. Assembling my first battlesuit tomorrow. Gonna get the scheme down and set up the back story. God I have too many stories to work on.

Commissars don't have men under their command, they simply are there to make sure everyone does their job at their utmost best for the emperor, and execute those who don't. You're mistaking them for the officers, which them could turn traitor.
And to the imperium, there is no repent for even thinking about potential treason. Death can purify the heretic, not the traitor.

True, but my commissar is different. He is COMMANDANT Commissar. He is the governor of Velkriege, as well as its military commander and tactician. Think of him sorta like Gaunt, cept hes at the top of the food chain.

Look, a very pale comparison would be to say that in 1941 the minister of defense of the united state would have ran away with half the us armies decided to fight alongside the nazi for 4 months, and then come back to his homeland to repent and expect to be treated as a hero...
Although a better comparison would have been made of King Richard deserting the Pope during the crusades, work for the sarasins, and when he comes back to expect to be sanctified...
That the commissar turn traitor is already improbable, that he then get rewarded for it by the most extremely repressive, racist and murderously intolerant form of religious empire is another...
He would be MINIMALLY sentanced to death for at LEAST the accusation of Treason (fighting against the imeprium), Xenos Taint (for actually talking with an alien isntead of bashing it's brain out), Tech Heresy (for using Tau wargear, or at least not actively destroying it), flat out Heresy for stopping working for Him on Earth, Corruption of the pure (by tempting the soldiers under his commands to forfeit the light of the Emperor and work for the Xenos) and pretty much failing his oath as a commissar to be the purest soul.
In fact, these crimes are so grave the whole companies that ever served under him would probably be "forgiven their sins through death", rapidly executed, and the Commissar himself would suffer a fate worst than death through being given to the excclesiarch to be transformed into an Arco Flagellant or some other nasty torture. And of course, every trace of his existence and that of his companies would be compeltly erased from the archives and only kept inside the vaults of the Inquisition, lest other be inspired to transpire against the good of humanity.
If you want a more direct exemple of how much the empire hates traitors... guards fighting Tau Human Auxiliaries have the "hatred" rule and always hit them on 3+ in melee.

Wow, thats a deep response. . . .
Considering the rank of Rel, and the info he could give, he could get off under the circumstance that he gets watched by some Witch Hunters or Inquisitors.
We are also talking about the 41st Millenium: Unless someone knew of Velkria's history or achievements then they wouldn't really know of Rel at all. The universe is a HUGE place. One man is a speck among the stars, and you can't see it less u look at it thru 1,000,000 magnification. Heh. I also did say that he fought off the Tau without contact to any Imperial fleet alone with his men. . . For a year. They had to have sex with the women in their company to try and reproduce. Suffice to say that the Guard would loot Tau or Kroot corpses after every skirmish to keep ammo supplies up. Food, I'm not to sure, maybe fauna or natural things.
This story is a work in progress. And, like you said, human auxiliaries are extremely hard to come by lest you wander into that distant spiral arm. . . .
Or previous worlds that were abandoned after the crusade. . . .
Meh. Also, the pirate bay has one torrent, but its buggy.

Sebbythefreak In reply to AIMASTER [2008-05-18 14:38:14 +0000 UTC]
Errrh... the reason why tau auxiliaries are hard to come by it's because the Tau empire is incredibly tiny. It's the only major race in WH40k that is so pointlessly small that they aren't even part of the galaxy-wide conflict. The fluff is that they should have been eradicated by the empire if it wasn't for the Tyranids who arrives from the same area and the most dangerous section of the Ork's race, and requires the vast majority of the manpower of the imperium, guard and marines, to repel these much more major threats.
Also, like I said, you're failing to see that the empire are not "good guies", they never forgive and they hate everything. Inquisitors are known to execute everything that doesn't look right to them, and have the right to destroy whole planets on a whim. Witch hunters are inquisitors, just from the Ordo Hereticus (The two others are Malleus [daemon hunters] and Xenos [Alien Hunters]. Heck, schools are basically outlawed because if people know stuff, they learn to doupt. And doupt prevents blind loyalty.
Think of them as the worst of the nazi mixed with the spanish inquisition. That's pretty Games-Workshop inspiration for the Imperium.
Of course, Gue'vesa DO exist, they usually comes from conquered and assimilated human planets, rouge mercenaries and probably some comes from regiments like yours who surrendered. But really, not a commissar. A planetary governor, a heroic officer, a general, maybe, but commissars? That's highly douptful.
If you want the Gue'vesa rules, here they are [link]
if you want the Tau empire codex I have it in PDF, add me to msn or something, I'll give it to ya. Imperial Guard however, I only have it in hardcover. If you want the rulebook, there's a little resume of the human empire in it as a whole however. And if you want more in-depth fluff you might want to check Dark Heresy, the tabletop 40k RPG.
The two inquisition codexes are also very good at showing how intolerant they are.

Sebbythefreak In reply to AIMASTER [2008-05-18 20:16:35 +0000 UTC]
Inquisitor Eisenhorn, however, is a "radical" and has been nearly declared heretic multiple times IIRC. But yeah I suppose it can be a good exemple. (Just remember that most novels are not "canon")
And yes, the Tau empire is tiny and cannot travel through warp for long distances. Look at the galactic star map, the Tau empire is a tiny little piece of area in the northeast corner of the galaxy. In between Ultramar and the Tyranid fleets. Very bad localisation haha.
While the Eldar travel through the webway, they can basically be anywhere at anytime in the galaxy. And while the "aggressive" eldars live on the Craftworlds, they have alot of "exodite worlds" that are isolated colonies everywhere on the fringe of the galaxy. Overall, they are all over the place and can see the far future, and craft the present so that things goes according to their own galaxy spanning plans. Remember, the Eldars USED to be the dominant species of the galaxy between the time of the Old Ones and the current age... until they gave birth to Slaanesh and doomed their souls.
Also, you will the need the paperback codex of your race if you want to play. But having the PDFs of the other races is very good for fluff reasons.

Ya, I know. I wish they would make a 40k movie. I seriously want to see some guardsmen in the trenches fighting orks. Fifteen Hours would be a great movie to make it after. It's short, simple, and its exactly what I just said!
Oh well. The E-mail was sent. Unless you have a different email account now you should have it in your inbox. Let me know by note if u didn't get it.

Well I tried inviting you on MSN, dunno if you have that. But that's what I could give you the stuff through.
Also, there was a 40k movie made in germany, but GW shut it down before release because there is a law on copyright in Germany that anything done by an artist, even if it's fanart, keeps copyright for it. And GW will never allow potential copyright sharing of their universes for such "fanwork", so they vaulted it forever. It's kinda depressing.

Really? Thats sad. . . . They really need to remake it or make another one. Note me your Hotmail email, cuz I don't know if the one on ur page is the right one. I don't have MSN messager, only the email.
I'm starting to paint my first stuff for tau. Got my first Tau Drones done, and working on what to do the Battlesuit in. Plasma Rifle seems real popular, but I like the Fusion gun more. Meh.
See ya soon! (I'll post a pic when it's done.)

That way I can add you to contacts. It's ok about the PDF's, I just wanted a way to

maybe a better one later.
