Description Ok - another skin shader setup. Based on settings found over on Daz forums with a few tweaks.  A bit different from the other one, but with the same skin (London). HDRi used was one of the openfootage outside ones.
Gives quite nice details again - a bit more subtle than the other one I think.
No PS done to this - I'd usually do some tidy up etc, but wanted to give the straight render.
Hope its useful to some of you.

Nice! Which skin material is this? You say something about London but I can't find it on the Daz Store.

Thanks a lot! I am rather new to Daz and was having trouble with my skin always looking like plastic. This really helped!

Do you have any recommendations for a hair shader?

Apologies - havent been on here for a while - best hair shader at the moment is OOT's - they work really well :

After more than one year iRay I can tell this: depending on the technique that will be used to render (e.g. Sky only, Sky and Dome, Dome only) the most important thing is the light together with an HDRI Map! Your settings above are pretty well, but if anyone chose a different light settings, he/she would get a hundred percent different result! In iRay anyone need to think twice as once..., mean only a full set of light and HDRI Map will bring the reality that we all searching for!

Awesome, but I don't mean to complain. I can't read the settings. Can you send them or post them double this size? Thanks.

Very realistic.  Be nice to have the settings allot larger to see them better.  My old eyes can barely make anything out!

It's me again. I was just wondering what type of normal map you used (if any) and also what setting the Glossy Reflectivity is set at? It got overlapped  by the other settings. :/

Hey again  - 0.5 for reflectivity. The Normal map was the one that came with London.

im new to daz and 3d in general. can you recommend any shaders on daz marketplace that will give me similar results? or maybe i can adjust the stock shaders iray comes with?

SickleYield In reply to frametheory [2015-11-08 22:54:56 +0000 UTC]

There's nothing wrong with second-circle's settings here.  The main difference between this and mine/Fuseling's product that they're recommending (thanks, by the way ) is that our product adds custom normal maps and translucency maps, so it can add detail where an original skin lacked such maps.

I've had differing results with any daz shaders - I now tend to default back to this one - you can put the settings on the image into iray. SickleYield   'Beautiful Skin for Iray' on Daz has a good set of shaders to play around with and helps visualise whats going on with the skin. Just shout if I can help - I've not been at it long myself.

Thanks. The environment domes or IBLs seem to give the best lighting results from samples I've seen.

I started out with some ibls - however the photometric lighting in iray is pretty good too if you can get it balanced all fine. Theres a setup for lights in one of my journals.

I did this using them

They look great. Cool thanks. Good to know. For some reason I can't get iray to render my camera view. It renders all other views fine. But when rendered in camera view the render shows up blank. Have you encountered similar problems?

second-circle In reply to frametheory [2015-11-09 02:05:56 +0000 UTC]

Could be a few things but most likely its the lighting not being setup properly. Try a blank scene and add a primitive ( a sphere or something)  plus a camera plus a light. Go to camera view and render - something should show up. If that works you can build from there.

Got it to work thanks. How did you get the blemishes and imperfections in the skin? Was it with that beautiful skin shader?

Those are on the texture - I used the Metropolitan texture I think it was London for that one. I've started making my own now. Its the blemishes and things that make it for me

Haven't found one yet - but am working on one thats close. Most textures I find are too perfect - the one I've made had a lot of flaws Thanks

Render settings are on the image The lighting is a simple environmental diffuse HDRi - I think it was from openfootage. I haven't had a lot of luck with any of the newer skins - have bought quite a few and don't really like them too much. Making my own now and getting much better results.

PaintedInWords [2015-08-05 05:01:03 +0000 UTC]

London's skin is very detailed and natural looking, but my current tests are using a softer? unblemished skin and I find that my figure, though good, looks really smooth. Have you noticed any difference in skin texture settings in your tests when using different skins--if you've used them? If so, how have you compensated for smoother skin textures versus ones like London's? My settings are very close to yours. For example, my Glossy Roughness is set to .55 because at zero she looks like she just got soaked with baby oil!  And I've bumped up my...bump...to so the skin doesn't look so smooth.

second-circle In reply to PaintedInWords [2015-08-05 07:50:03 +0000 UTC]

Hey! Yeah - the two things that I find change things massively are the texture and the lighting. I generally don't use any stock textures any more and have been making my own textures from photo references - the bought ones I tend to find look far too false for me. The metropolitan ones pointed me in the right direction - am now trying to make a decent one for G3F - almost finished  Very direct lighting can also be a killer and I tend to use a more diffuse lighting source - an overcast HDRi or  a very large softbox - just like in a photographic studio - its much more flattering than straight sunlight or studio light.

So, that means this render shows a V4 with London Skin which was converted with IRAY basic shaders and a couple of small settings to get this result? Cool!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

second-circle In reply to DigitalArt-VTG [2015-07-21 22:33:26 +0000 UTC]

Almost - its G2F with the V4 texture. Theres quite a few changes from the standard shaders - the ones with V7 are pretty good now straight out the box.
