Description A Call to Lutey

As you descend those depths,
Old Lutey, what do you see?
You went so easily,
Unlike those in fast sinking ships.

A son ashore, staring unforgiving,
At a sea that takes just as hard,
As it gives back.
Does he fear a future he already sees?

To turn your back on all,
Without struggle or tears.
Holding on to the delicate hand,
Of the mermaid who steals you from land.

Her milky white hair
Floats around her head.
Angel of the sea.
Pulls you down fathoms below.

As the sun fades,
Aren’t you scared?
Do you dance with the bones,
Of the brethren tossed from your green home?

When you sit with Poseidon
For your welcome feast,
Do you laugh with the Merrows,
As you had with your little babes?

Is there passion and meaning,
In a fish’s unblinking stare?
I wonder as I watch the waves,
How do your ancestors like their coral grave?
