I like Naruto a lot too, But I have to agree. He needs better character development. That or he should team up with Kyuubi and destroy the world.

even though Naruto has 5 techniques: Rasengan, RasenShuriken, Shadow Clones, Summoning, and Uzimaki Barrage...he needs to come up with other stuff too. Maybe Kishimoto should give him a sword or some kind of weapon, something to at least give fans hope for character improvement! I mean seriously, lots of characters got new techniques and weapons after the timeskip! Sasuke got his sword, Sakura got superhuman strength, and there's plenty more examples that i can't think of right now!

Well, it goes for his Shadow Clone Jutsu as well. no matter how many clones he makes, no matter how many get destroyed, he keeps making more...just to have most of them get bashed into oblivion!!! Naruto is a very cool guy, he just needs to use a little more variety wen he fights.
Shadow Clones and Rasengan...he needs to try Summoning and Uzimaki Barrage a little more often! it'll at least give more variety to his style.

Yes, I agree that he's funny and nice, but he is so horridly overpowered that there isn't much left for true character development. Quite often it is failures that change people the most. How many times has Naruto actually FAILED at something utterly?

he's failed at getting Sasuke back. he failed to save Gaara before Shukaku was extracted. he failed to kill Kakuzu, Kakashi had to finish the job. he failed to get Sakura to go out with him. he failed to notice that Hinata likes him. he failed to save Jiraiya.

He didn't get Sasuke back because Sasuke is an even bigger Mary Sue than Naruto. He failed to save Gaara because they didn't even freaking know about it until days after his capture. If they had known, his Mary-sueness would have conquered all. He didn't kill Kakuzu because Kakashi was in the freaking way. Sakura won't go out with him because she wants someone that is a bigger Mary Sue. He didn't save Jiraiya because he wasn't even aware that the guy was in danger.
