Appearance: Adelaide is a dappled sooty bay unicorn. Her horn and hooves are opal, where the majority is dark opal, and her front right hoof is a green/gold opal. Her mane is fluffy and large, like a lion's mane, and has a delicate ombre from dark purple hues to golden, giving her a glowing effect. Soft dapples cover her belly and sides as well as under her legs. Her tail is leonine and has thick curls on the end of it, which similarly faces from dark to light. Her chunkier build is akin to a friesian/draft build, and she moves with elegance and purpose.

+Confident: 'Hey, you look really nice tonight~' - Growing up with a strong elder brother encouraged her to seek out her own confidence and strength. She is able to stand her ground and go after what she wants, this also means she speaks her mind and shows no fear in the face of others.
+Assertive: 'Actually, I think you'll find I AM doing this!' - If you want something done right, you do it yourself. Adelaide place in society insured she took her position and surroundings seriously, as a result, she is not one who takes kindly to deviations of social order. She commands with a strong voice, and with her confidence, sounds more powerful than her rank would suggest.
-Subtle: 'I'll pin a rose to my dress, then she'll know I like her...right?' - Despite her confidence, Adelaide is composed enough to know when and when not to say certain things. However, this can mean that, without her meaning it to, her stances are taken less seriously, or are utterly unknown because she is trying to be careful. She feels she must honour her family, and will often wait for the opinions of her brother to be voiced first. Subtly and the art of mindful politics is still something she is developing.
-/+Fierce: 'I'm sorry, what did you say?!' - Much like her natural glowing hue, Adelaide is like a spark of wildfire. Should she settle upon, or come across, anything that offends her, she will alight and be sure that her passions and beliefs are well understood.
+Independent: 'No, no. I can handle this on my own.' - While she relies on her brother in a public sense, Adelaide handles her business herself. She manages her own slaves, works in her own wing of the house on music, and entertains other Emins by herself. She enjoys her own space and independence too much to give it up, and is grateful that she is not next in line as leader of her House, for she would NOT stand being marred off.
+/-Dramatic: 'One does not simply write a love letter, one composes it!' - She is a musician at heart, and thus a fainting couch at the end of her bed is not unexpected. She has never swooned on it, but she has thrown herself down, heart-struck by some beautiful love letter or sonnet from her beloved. Though this generally only manifests itself in the privacy of her own home, at events and balls she has been known to blush, and cast badly hidden glances at certain attendants.
-Haughty: 'Who do they think they are?' - The effects of her position have not entirely alluded her. Adelaide believe in the classist system of Aodhian society, and can find herself having brattish tantrums when structure and order are overlooked. Her haughtiness is purely directed to those below her class, and though she is a kind individual, once her favour is lost it is difficult to restore.
-Sharp: 'Don't talk to me like that you Breimian worm faced-' - Having taught herself, initially, to read music, Adelaide prizes herself on being sharp minded, and sharp tongued. Intelligent and observant, Adelaide can pick out the weaknesses of others after watching them for a time, and should they displease her, they will find themselves on the other end of a tongue lashing!
+/-Judgemental: 'The way those two are acting, oh yeah, something's up.' - The affairs of others of the court are of great interest to her, as is maintaining her place amongst its people. As such, she, like many others, must pass judgement in order to sure-up the shaky, and often fluid, environment of young court life.
-Jealous: 'It isn't fair!' - Watching others have what she cannot pains her to no end. Especially as regards love. Beautiful dresses can be bought, and phony attentions too, but true devotion and public displays of love often send her hurtling towards anger.
History~
Adelaide's birth was like a splash in the middle of a storm. Another inconvenience amongst a sea of discontent. By the time Adelaide was born, Cyrus's mental health was already in decline. Imperia, having had little involvement in the rearing of her other children, handed the infant over to her nine year old brother Adonis, just like her half-sister Alixandria had been. Things were difficult following the death of their uncle Ulysses who passed before Adelaide's birth, and the House' reputation was in decline. In awe, Adelaide watched Adonis blaze through his education was skill and determination, inspiring Adelaide to focus on her passions. From an early age, Adelaide picked up a liking for music, and began to practice the violin. She was taught to read music, learned the history of Aodhian music, performance and art, and began to focus on bringing focus back to House Julius.
Aside from music, Adelaide and Alixandria would practice duelling with the blades their family was famous for crafting. Adonis taught them well and Adelaide enjoyed the art of the sword. This had to be done on the downlow due to Cyrus's ailing mental health and opinion on educating them all. While Alixandria and Adonis were at work studying tomes and scrolls from Ulysses' study, Adelaide was familiarising herself with court decorum, fashion, trends and naturally, music. The halls of The Black Estate were revivified with music and literature, and the siblings tirelessly worked to restore their House.
Then the events of the New Years Ball occurred. Thankfully Adonis, Alixandria and Adelaide were all too young to attend and Cyrus was incapable of doing so. The shattered nobility that emerged after the Ball rattled the entire herd. Adelaide became especially driven to learning the art of sword-play, determined to protect her family and loved ones from such an event, even if her inner fears told her she wouldn't be enough to do so. The crowning of Amadeus as King, some years later, did little to improve her confidence. In fact, her faith in the highest nobility of Aodh was wavering as she felt her family had been abandoned.
On her fifteenth birthday, Adelaide was presented at court, as Adonis was anxious that the family re-establish itself in Aodhian society. During her fifteenth year, Adelaide bore witness, with her siblings, to the presentation of Ingrid. The sight of the first kirin child startled her. She had only seen art of young kirins, and was astonished by the brilliance of the little one's scales. It felt, to her, as though the world were moving faster than she or her family could keep up. With the new spark beneath her hooves, inspired by Ignacio, she believed, Adelaide worked harder. She mingled with other other young eminents, meeting Angelique and Sereya. It didn't take long for her distrust of those around her to fester into barely tamed anger. The public execution of Amadeus' murderers pushed Adelaide over the edge. Tucking herself behind her brother's strong legs, she watched, teary eyed, the death of fellow equines. She knew what they had done was terrible, and had no sympathy for their actions, but watching them be devoured curdled her stomach and hardened her heart.
Adelaide channelled her frayed emotions into music, writing sonnets, concertos and a short musical theatre piece. With renewed vigour, Adelaide adamantly pledged to keep her family safe, physically and politically. She befriended fellow young eminents, ensuring her family's swords were talked about, and that House Julius stayed on their tongues when she delighted them with her soulful violin performances.
She was not alone in her change of heart, and by the time she was late into her sixteenth year, she and Sereya came to realise they were in love. Unfortunately, due to the power of House Cardea, the pair knew they would not be able to be together while Rosalba was Head of the House. So the pair carry out a secret romance that continue still, passing letters and flowers to each other at events. Sereya is Adelaide's primary muse, and has had several songs written about her.
