Description I was visiting a tiny zoo the other day and shot some cute and funny pictures I want to share some of them with you

forth: kangaroo mummy with her baby taking a nap
it was an open enclosure, you can walk through it and be really within the kangaroo's grasp - it was fantastic

thank you
oh we often have open enclosures in german zoos, we also have enclosures with bunnies and guinea pigs, where children can sit and pet them and we have like green houses with free birds and butterflies to take a walk through

We have open enclosures with bunnies, lambs, guinea pigs and such, but that's it! That's why I was so amazed to know that you have open enclosures of other, less domesticated animals. Here, animals are keep securely away from people. In some zoos you go on a "safari" inside a truck, and animals roam freely, but you're still kept at a distance.

I think that it's done mostly to protect animals from people. Some people can be very stupid around here.

I've been in one of those green houses with birds, butterflies and even tortoises But that was when I visited Spain. I don't think there's any of those here.

yeah ppl can really be stupid sometimes
I really cannot understand why parents let they're children go after birds or let them chase bunnies or don't stop them banging on bars or window panes, what will those kids learn about caring for animals if they're allowed to do that???
I saw a couple at the zoo with their little boy and they didn't hold him off shouting at the animals and banging on their enclosures, that made me soooo angry, those poor animals, how can they stand that day after day

the open enclosures with the little kangaroos had extra trails for ppl with hanging ropes to keep the ppl on trail, and what a help that was

Parents that don't care about animals raise children that won't care about animals. It makes me angry and sad too, it must be really stressful for the animals and they shouldn't go through that, not even once.

you are so right about that
some of the animals were lethargic, lying around, weren't responding to anything, poor creatures, that is what I don't like about tiny zoos: the distance between the animal(which can't go away and take a break from the hype) and the visitors is to short or the area on which the animals live on is to small so they cannot go to another place if it gets to loud
I'd love to go to a real big zoo once, where they've created big areas where different species are living together - they try to create their natural habitat
even for the big cats - they try to give them more space and less metall bars, they use a really large moat instead

Here, where I live we have a very huge zoo, animals aren't caged but people are the animals roam free in large areas and we visit them in special buses so we can't bother them. There's still some areas where smaller animals are kept in, but the cages are fairly sized.

That's the kind of zoo I like too
