Description this is something I've worked on the past few weeks, 'cause I had some deep muse problems with my themed donuts - nothing worked out they way I want - so I took a timeout from donut making

Instead I've tried doing some polymerclay canes and swirled lentil beads and some stamping on clay - posting soon

so this is what come out
a swirl of fire and ice it's gonna be a bead some day
I hope you like it

------
made from polymer clay (fimo )

It's gorgeous! The little flecks of gold leaf (is that what it is?) in the fire part really make it. Wonderful. Looking forward to seeing more!

thank you sooo much
yeah the little flecks are from the fake gold leaf (couldn't afford real gold leaf )
I've done tons of swirled beads - I was not sure if to post them all - I've done chocolate ones with turqouise spirals and a gold one with flecks and a copper one with flame-pattern and so on - they're easy to make, the most work is making the canes beforehand to get pattern into the swirl like that red/black/orange one in the fire part

Most welcome!
I'd love to see more of your swirled beads, if you upload them The copper one sounds especially cool.
Hehe, I make canes in glass, too. I think the method is probably fairly similar. They're fun, but they do take a while.

I don't know if there's a tutorial her at devianart but if you google 'swirled lentil bead polymer clay' in the picture search you'll find some cool pics and tutorials - it's very easy to make but hard to explain (for me at least )

omg i love the conbo of fire and water!! its so cool! and ive been wanting to make polymer beads for a while now - do you have any good tutorials on the matter? like, how to turn canes into beads? or do you have a way you do it? cause id love to make some really cool beads for my friends, and ive thought about using some translucent clay to make kinda see thru beeds to get the glass effect. xD

Aaawww thank you
I browsed on google picture search >'swirled lentil bead polymer clay' or only bead for that matter
there are lots of cool tutorials out there
I've tried translucent clay and you need to make the layer really thin - 'cause it won't bake that translucent

oooh right, imagine if i ruined my bead cause i did it too thick - thanks xD. im gunna google that right away, cause ive never made beads, just charms, and beads look soo cool xD

seed-of-january In reply to origanime-muckle [2009-06-27 19:24:23 +0000 UTC]

I ruined some of my beads and other stuff by adding tranlucent clay and believe it will get see-through after baking

aaargh, id hate that! ive decided tonight im gunna attempt making some beads, well, making a cane first. sorry for keep asking you questions - whats your fave cane?

omg there are sooo many - fruit canes are amazing
or four leave clover is cool too
and what's your favourite cane?

origanime-muckle In reply to seed-of-january [2009-06-28 10:51:58 +0000 UTC]

omg i LOVE four leaf clovers!!! i would love to make four leaf clover beads - do you have a tutorial on the matter? ive never really delved into canes - im scared of spoling it and wasting my precious clay, lol! ive made a lime slice cane, which turned out great - used a tutorial by mothermayi (im not sure if thats correct, i cant remember her name, sorry) and i also made some toast charms, which i did by making the actual loaf, then slicing it. i thought that was a quite clever idea of mine, till i realised lots and lots of others do it too, lol.

seed-of-january In reply to origanime-muckle [2009-06-28 13:37:38 +0000 UTC]

I stop doing canes 'cause it's to much clay and I needn't that much of it - so there still lying around, I won't use them up in a hundred years
I'm in love with that four leave clover cane (I found in google search, tutorials there although somewhere ) I probably won't make it, because of said reasons
I thought I was clever doing my checkered pattern the way I did, but....all over the crafting world everybody know how to do - it happends to all of us

yeah, i was thinking, it doesnt make it any badder a idea, just that someone else had the same good idea. i googled it, and found one tutorial, but then i crossed the window by accident and couldnt find it, cause i (stupidly) had set my computer not to record my history of the websites i had been on, cause it was making my internet slow. so im guna hunt and hunt till i find it again. oh, and thanks for all your replies xD i really appreciate all your help and tips
