One thing I tried to do with this story is show that even when an evil person
is brought to justice, the results of their actions can last for a long time afterwards.
Both to their victims and their families. That's one thing Star Trek didn't always cover, permanent consequences.
Each week everything was reset.

Their story is so sad, but at least they had a happy-ish ending!

Excellent Job!!!
I guess fifty Orion bodies, all beheaded and skinned do not send a message that transporting slaves through Freehold territory is not tolerated; I guess nothing will.

Orions have always affected me. I’ve never really liked most of them because they’re into slavery. As a person of African American
descent the subject of slavery has always affected me deeply and also a person who was once molested. A lot of people don’t
realize or ignore this, but the horrific truth is that slavery is synonymous with rape. Throughout history slaves were raped
by their owners and many of them were bought for the specific purpose of breeding stock.
And even if a slave wasn’t used in such a manner, they’re stolen from their homes from their lives and reduced to mere property.
If that isn’t a violation what is? The tragedy is that it still takes place today.
So many people enjoy looking at pictures of Orion ‘slave girls’ or at pictures of pleasure slaves (like Princess Leia in Return of the Jedi.)
The pictures portray being a pleasure slave as something romantic and glamorous and don’t show the brutal truth at all.
I guess I wanted to show some of what it is truly like. On slave ships it’s common for a crew to rape the prisoners
I wanted to show that as well.
Also in case you say the Enterprise episode ‘Bound’, so many people go ga-ga over those Orion women and ignore the fact
that they are all essentially rapists. One doesn’t have to have sex with someone to rape them. Seducing someone is one thing
but using pheromones to control and brainwash them is another form of rape. Also those women were trying to capture
the Enterprise crew to sell all of them as slaves. To condemn all of them to a lifetime of being raped in some form or another.
Yet people still see them as beautiful.
And after defeating the Orions the Enterprise just let them go afterwards without any form of punishment. I’ve often
thought about slave ships throughout history, they were living hells and living deaths to millions. And those who
commanded them were never punished. I guess I wanted a story that showed such people punished.

All very good points. A loy of the histort which I knew a frw bits of the Star Trek I did not know.
I didnt know thr Orions were matriachial nor used pheramones. It reminds me a bit of the Zeltrons and the Falleen from star wars.
Though I cant see many Zeltron abusing folks with that skill I could see the Falleen doing so, and as many were in thr underbelly of crime They seem pretty simular.
I think all races have tasted slavery at some point inhuman history, but I do get your point and understand there.
I personally like that it was another female who took her down and her captive's blunt truth to her also.
Overall its a powerful piece and well written.

Your characters could also exist in the Prime universe. Descendants are also possible, as an alternative to how they turned out.

In that case I have quite a few characters in mind. I actually have a list of descendants and three are:
1 Starfleet Captain
1 Starfleet admiral
1 Federation ambassador

I actually have my own Orion character who I got the idea for from watching Carnivale, but I've been too embarrassed to post it. What got me more was that the episode treated the Orions as a matriarchy, even though it's the men who take leadership roles. The thing is, when men take leadership roles and the women have to get by through seduction, that's usually a patriarchy and there's nothing feminist about it. Shows like Game of Thrones, Rome and Carnivale all illustrate this much better than Enterprise did. The idea itself is inconsistent because Gaila, Uhura's roommate in the movie, is said in the commentary to have been rescued from Orion slavers.
Speaking of slavery, do you have a smart phone? If so, I think you need to download Episode. They have a story called Enslaved that's about a poor innocent young woman being abducted into human trafficking. I think you might be able to appreciate it. Though, if you're looking to post stories on there, I should tell you that they don't allow fanfiction.

On the wiki starbase118
I read that there are three types of Orions:
Alpha Female (Carnal, seductive portray themselves as slaves but actually the leaders
Slave Males
Slave females (Docile, submissive and actual slaves
wiki.starbase118.net/wiki/inde…
As for Gaila they tell about her in the IDW Star trek comic #53 and 54
The Syndicate is headed by eight powerful families. Gaila came from one of the most powerful families,
the Hexis-Kyse. When her mother Vila tried to marry her off to the leader of the Pacari Delegation
in order to increase the family's influence, her father Kazek, took her and her brother Kai and fled
to earth.
Fraid I don't have a smart phone. I saw the move 'Taken' that deals with trafficking.

Thank you for the info. If you're wondering why my story was deleted, it's because I recently got constructive criticism and I had to rewrite it.

The Tkarites' idea of a warning is nasty and lovely. Sometimes a steep learning curve comes with a price. I can picture the Orion hierarchy deciding that a "push comes to shove" situation with the Tkarites would be a very bad idea, seeing how they "push" with sharp knives.

Sometimes I think slavery, along with human woes such as warfare and nationalism, are part of a woeful human instinct I've dubbed the "Us and Them" Complex. It seems that humans have this deep need to have an adversary or somebody/something that one can feel superior to. This evil or inferior "other" can be either a different race, tribe, sex, political party, religion, country and so on.
For example, despite what revisionists say, the Confederacy's primary goal was to preserve slavery and the economy depending upon it at the time. I also believe white southerners were fighting to maintain their self image as a superior race. For instance, when there were suggestions of making blacks soldiers in exchange for their freedom, one Confederate general argued that if blacks made good soldiers, then the whole premise behind slavery was wrong. He was ready to see his revolution falter rather than give up his image of superiority. For folks of his mind set, seeing black soldiers defeat southern whites was a punishment indeed.

You're very insightful. I've noticed that too; people trying to raise themselves up by keeping others down.
On a completely different note you may have noticed that I'm posting a lot of crew pics.
The Saratoga has about 100 crewmembers and I've decided to bring them to life!
Well actually I have for years but I decided to post how they look for others to see!
I plan to post the Delphis Pod Captains, the Saratoga crew and others that they've come in contact with
Let me know what you think of this one specifically
