Description Arthur, King of the Britons, is so well-known that he isn't really "from" any one particular story. Personally, I find Sir Thomas Mallory's Le Morte d'Arthur to be my favorite basic structure and version of the stories, and it's probably the best known of the various tellings. Since Mallory more or less imagined Arthur and his knights in a vaguely contemporary setting, I chose to portray him in late 14th century armor rather than the ostensibly more accurate late 5th/early 6th century armor of Geoffrey of Monmouth's Historia Regum Britanniae and the like. I must confess that due to my unfamiliarity with details of the period's costume, I have relied heavily on Osprey Publishing's magnificent English Medieval Knight 1300 - 1400, and patterned Arthur's armor and pose very closely after an illustration therein. His arms, however, are the traditional arms attributed to him since around the 14th century (Azure, three crowns Or).
