Description 2013. 12. 31.

This is my second collection of, well, not really sketches, but smaller and older works.

The earliest is from about 2011, although I have no way of finding out the exact dates of the linearts. They were mostly coloured this year, and the one of Eudial is quite new (you can see in the quality compared to, say, the mediocre pic of Ami on the bottom).

At least I got to submit it before next year

is that Tomoe and Kaolinite? Yay! I really like Demando/Usa and Eudial one ^^ And Dark Starfighter too! Hell, they all are great! ^^ Btw, when the lines have varied volume, are you using nib pen or a paint brush for inking?(or something like that) Brushes and nibs are hard to control at times, but they produce such nice, manga-like lines ^^

Yeah, that's Tomoe and Kaolinite I think I should make full proper pic of them but I always have so many plans and forget some of them too...

That's true, they are very hard to control On this pic I mostly used brushpen, except for the DxU pic for which I used an unfortunately too thick nib pen.

Ah, I see thanks! ^^ Is brushpen the type of thingy that has ink inside and it flows out, or is it like a regular brush and you need to dip it? I recently saw a cool thing called "Pilot Pocket Brush Pen" and was tempted to order it But I suppose one could also put ink into a regular waterbrush (the plastic one people use with watercolours) and it would work
Nibs are nice, but I dislike dipping and cleaning the hard ink from the tip all the time >.< Fountain pens on the other hand tend to clog for me, I'm probably using the wrong ink I never tried inking with brushpen
You should totally do that TomoexKaolinite some time ^^ It's such a cool pairing

There are several kinds. The one I used here is a pen with real brush on the top and the ink is inside so it's almost like painting. The other brushpen is like the TUT markers, with an elastic, kinda v-shaped nib... resembling copics but bigger and more elastic. I've never tried dripping type of pens, but I'm working on a few pics where I used regular brush and china ink. It's cool but I decided I have to do it with a harder brush next time...

That Pilot Pocket Brush Pen seems great, you should try it if it's affordable. What I like about brushpens is that they are like painting without mess (just like copics )

I always forget to clean my nibs (one nib actually), so often it is a bit complicated to make it flow

I just love fountain pens! But unfortunately by the time I want to use them again they dry out. Of course I have old ink but it's also because lately I'm not using it for writing and it just sits on my shelf...

Oh, I should indeed, I just need to be reminded... why don't you just submit this theme to my Christmas request journal entry? That way I'll make it for sure

Oh, okay,  I will
Now that you mentioned, I'm starting to wonder if the Pilot one I was looking at has the regular hair brush ending or the copic-like elastic thingie . I like elastic, it gives more precision, I think, but with brush hair one probably has a bigger variety of lines
Is your brushpen something like that? www.ebay.com/itm/A-Lot-of-3-Pi… www.ebay.com/itm/NIJI-WATERBRU…

Yes, it is this one: www.google.com/url?sa=i&rct=j&…

The Pilot one definitely looks like a brushpen with elastic nib. From what I've tried, Zig's TUT-80 markers were my favourites. Of course, not for lineart, but colouring, they are _the_ perfect tools for shading manga hair As for filling larger areas evenly, any kind of alcohol based marker is better, but that has nothing to do with nibs... The point is, TUT nibs offer everything I expect from an elastic nib

Actually I've never used elastic nibs for lineart... oh, wait, once I spoiled a Rei pic with a Tria marker, but that doesn't really count, since those nibs remind me rather of regular felt tip pens, not to mention Tria's tendency to soak the paper... But my SAI brushpen works just fine when I want to ink something quickly. Anyway, there's still a lot of room for experimenting

Thanks so much for the thorough explanation
Now it made me think, do SAI brushes have something to do with Easy Paint Tool SAI (same company, that is)??? O___O

I also thought of that but I doubt it... could be a pretty common word after all...

I think your work is good, I guess sometimes you can't just do all the details for a larger drawing, it takes time.
Have a great new year!
