Beautiful! Nice color mix of the green shutters, ocher walls and bright flowers. What other stories does it tell us? The downspout looks like copper, probably old. The exterior wiring means the house was built before electricity was available. The asymmetric brick arch is unusual. It suggests that the window was rebuilt smaller, but even so the complete arch would be usually remain. The diagonal rods are cross-ties that hold the walls and beams together for extra strength. These are more common in areas that have earthquakes. My guess: part of the arch was removed during repairs after an earthquake.

Bravo! The house was built long before electricity, constantly it altered over the centuries. In this long period of time there have been many earthquakes, some violent, some not. I took this picture in the historical center of Volterra and then the house is of medieval origin, although probably built on the basis of a much older building. Volterra in fact dates back to the eighth century BC .
