There are fan-fictions of Rarimac on fanfiction.net but two are just plain wrong and Youtube has one like-able video of the pairing but the would would be so much more loving if they loved this pairing. Y u no like Rarimac?

The only one I've really been drawn to is [link] but aside from that, it's a small bunch of bull and that makes me sad. :/

Yes! It's just too bad you're probably one of ten.

Beautiful picture, but the pairing bugs me.
I really cant get behind it, because its essentially rarity getting female arm candy, it makes rarity look shallow, and neither characters grow, its a stagnant pairing
Rarity knows big mac, but has no reason to love him, neither truly benifit from the relationship, and the only possible benefit is that rarity can use him as arm candy. People never seem to compare personalities, just "Rarity needs a strong guy, lets give her big mac" I dont think rarity deserves that kind of guy. She needs to find someone who isnt going to continue her concept of beauty being the reason to love someone.Yes, she is a good pony, but she is very superficial when it comes to men.She needs somepony who can help change that, not somepony who will continue that mindset.

What's kind of funny is I have the exact opposite opinion. Now, I'd like you to keep in mind this isn't me trying to convert you! I just like discussing ships and stuff. I think Big Mac is one of the ponies that can make her grow strictly because of their personalities. Even though Rarity is fixated on impressions and appearance and Big Macintosh is often portrayed more as a pretty prudent farmpony, they're really similar in that they do what they can for who they can. Rarity tries to help people with fashion, so that they can feel good about themselves and take pride in their appearance - she pretty much tries to give people confidence with what she does! She tries to be polite and composed no matter what, and doesn't judge immediately. Big Macintosh, being more of a hands-on guy probably helps out a lot of ponies if they need some manual labor done. This may sound like a stretch, but when you consider his family background, how his sisters and his grandma act, it's not that big of a leap to assume he'd be just as helpful as any of them. Now, they can sort of be played in several ways. No matter what it's impossible to avoid preconceptions, so either of them can assume a number of things about each other, and their story would revolve around dispelling the stereotype and meeting the actual pony behind it! Maybe Rarity didn't really pay attention to Big Mac because he was always in the background. Maybe Big Mac thought Rarity was a bit silly and frivolous. Either way, having them interact realize 'wait a minute, there's more to him/her than I thought' is something that really interests me. I think that once Rarity and Big Mac are introduced, they each would have some spark of interest because they're completely different while having qualities that each would admire, like how Rarity goes past the limit to try and make everybody happy whenever she can, while Big Mac tries to be the voice of reason and moderation, but they both work hard at what they do while sort of coming from different angles. I mean, most of this is speculation, but it makes sense to me and it's what makes me ship 'em.
It's 12 AM, I'm sorry if I ain't so coherent.

It doesn't change the fact, that she is superficial with relationships, and being with big macintosh would do little to counter that, and she would never truly get over physical beauty being a reason to love someone. No matter how generous, no matter what she tries to do, she is petty. Big macintosh isnt the pony that can make her grow on a whole, only in opinion to one another.

First of all, Rarity isn't drawn exclusively to physical beauty; she's drawn to romance and class. She was enamored with the idea of Prince Blueblood because of the romantic aspect of such a scenario. She thought he'd be a perfect gentleman (being a Prince and all) and that she and Blueblood would fall in love and have a happily ever after because he's royalty, and she sort of thinks of herself as the protagonist to some unwritten story. Though physical appearance is a factor, it isn't the most important item on the list. She wants chivalry and courtesy, to be treated like a Lady. Just because she has a fixation on appearance doesn't mean it's the sole defining characteristic of her existence! She's not going to fall in love just on appearance alone! Yes, physical beauty is going to be a factor - when isn't it? As much as people like to say 'it's what's inside that counts', not many are actually willing to pursue a relationship with whom they'd consider ugly. But it isn't a fatal flaw. She has far more depth than that. I can see why this ship wouldn't work, but I can't see it from what you're arguing.

I didnt mean it that way, just that it is a flaw that wont be fixed by pairing her with big mac, and it is a flaw that is fixable.

But loving people based solely on their physical appearance isn't one of her flaws. Taking on more work than she can handle, yes. Getting too wrapped up in the idea of the spotlight and being an upper-class pony, yes. Blowing tiny dilemmas way out of proportion, yes. But not being able to see inner as well as outer beauty? Quite the opposite! Just because she wants to make everything around her beautiful doesn't mean she'll be repulsed by anything that isn't, or immediately contemptuous. When Twilight wandered in with a hairdo that definitely looked like a complete and utter disaster, Rarity's first instinct wasn't to turn her away in disgust, or throw and offhand insult, but to try to fix it and make the mane look better! Shipping her with Big Mac wouldn't solve the problem because it doesn't exist!

Sorry I offended you, but i still think that it just bugs me. And she manipulated and essentially stole from somepony by capitalizing on the fact he was a nerd in putting your hoof down

I just have abnormally strong feelings about Rarity. I could probably write essays about her character, and it's kind of terrifying.
Also, while she did manipulate him, she did pay him back - you can see her swap it for a bit (or gold piece or whatever their currency is). It also has less to do with capitalizing on his social status and more to do with utilizing her beauty and the use of excessive flattery - she tries the same thing with Iron Will, and gets a couple stallions to pull the chariot for the Gala.

I understand that it was a trade, but that still doesnt make me feel much better. I cant honestly see her use her charm like that without repurcussions. I like her character, but it needs to be developed.

Having flaws is part of being a developed character. I probably don't see it as much of a big deal as you do, though, so I don't really think of it as a flaw in need of development and fixing.

The point of the made up back story is that they had sloppy makeouts but no longer have it because of canon events? Well then, what's the difference between the totally made-up back story you employ and the totally made up back stories I like? They both have next to no basis other than several fans' headcanons. You can't claim canon superiority on this one sister, your ship is as unsupported as mine!
