I really liked the purple gown and green town dress from movie 2. They were much more fitting than pink. Also the blue town dresses and her sparkling indigo dress was much more her than the dinner one. Someone in Eric's kingdom has bad fashion sense i mean really red and pink? What a clash. Shouldn't someone have put her in teal? Thankfully the second movie and redesign put her in a much more fitting seafoam green..

I really like her in purple and green as well. I'm wondering if maybe the pink dress was just a dress that Eric had in the palace, possibly his mom's or something and it was all he had lying around so Ariel was stuck with it.Β

That's probably what happened...at least he had one blue dress though. I also wonder if initially Β Aurora's aunts dropped by and changed half of Ariel's blue wardrobe to pink. Oh well at least she probably makes her own clothes now. Β I have Β a headcanon that Carlotta taught Ariel sewing so.. (sorry about the pun) Ariel got loads of purple, blue, gold, white and green threads to make her own clothes and never ever had an actual corset, just a wrap that looked as though it were one (knowing that Ariel being from the sea wouldn't wear something that bothersome it's just uncomfortable). Otherwise Triton (of all people) has better fashion sense Β (the sparkling purple/blue/silverfish dress) Β than Eric.Β

Actually that blue dress is from the sequel and not the original, where she doesn't where a bow.
