Tungsten Heart is a cold, arid planet in a binary planetary system, meaning its own moon is around its size, and the two share an orbital focal point in space. Being tidally locked to each other, the two worlds have a 1128 hour long day, and during their long nights shine a considerable amount of light on each other.

Tungsten Heart's twin, Jewel, used to be an ocean world, but when its small iron core cooled it lost its magnetosphere and its oceans were gradually evaporated and blown away by the sun. By the time life made landfall on Cinder, Jewel was a salt and mineral encrusted desert with only trace amounts of water in its ever thinning atmosphere to remind the universe of what it once was.
