It's one of the best conky themes I've ever seen. But I believe that due to the amount of time that has been done, it is bugged in the current distros. I use linux mint 19.1, could you do it, or help an update to function properly in current distros?

this whole conky surely looks pretty damn cool, but there are some problems: 1- weather is not working and 2- what player should i use to make the music info work? i use banshee and it seems not to work
and yes, i followed the readme and everything, i'm no noob in general, just a conky and mpd noob

Beautiful configs. I'll probably modify it enough to remove the time/music that I don't need, but they're perfect right down to the Arch logo!

WOW, i liked conky before. Now it's just mind blowing. Took me about 30 minutes, maybe a little more, but i managed to stop the segfault errors. At the bottom of the rc file i removed the template lines that i was not using. As well as taking out the mpd lines and and /mnt/music lines in the lua script. now i need to remove the extra circles from the back ground image.

Great conky config. I just got it working on my Linux Mint 11 install. The weather part isn't showing up so I'm not sure where that should be pointing and when I play music that info doesn't show up no matter what player I'm using. Any ideas how I can fix this?

Hi again! This time I don't have any problem, but I was always wondering and wanted to ask you: if I have a soundtrack of some movie or a game with various artists, is there any way to use a single cover picture for all of them, i.e. to not have dozens of covers starting with the appropriate artist name? The album name is the same for all songs in the soundtrack.

sen7 In reply to Wyrm88 [2011-02-04 19:22:18 +0000 UTC]
Hi!
Yes that is possible, just put the cover image in the album directory (where the music files are). The cover must have one of these filenames: cover.jpg, folder.jpg, front.jpg or album.jpg
If the script can't find a matching cover in ~/.covers it will automatically search for one in the album dir.

Thx for the reply! I do however have a problem: I tried your advice but without any success. To be more precise, I have Gran Turismo 5 soundtrack in my Music folder, the GT5 folder contains a few folders with various genres (e.g. Lounge, Bossanova, etc.) and inside these are the songs. I checked in ncmpcpp if all songs have the same album name (which they do: "Gran Turismo 5"), so I renamed the .jpg accordingly but to no avail. Tried putting the cover in all folders but without success.

Hm... so you did put a cover in each of the sub folders (where the music files are in) and named the image "cover.jpg" (or one of the other names listed above in lowercase) right?
Did you set the "mpd_dir = ????" variable in the settings of the script to your mpd music directory like this '/mnt/music/' (the last slash is important)?
Is simply the default cover being displayed or a wrong cover?
You might try the current version of the script that I am using myself atm: [link]
(you need to modify the "settings" part again).

Wyrm88 In reply to sen7 [2011-02-05 18:23:32 +0000 UTC]
I've put the cover (named album.jpg) in one of the folder to try it out (actually, I've put one in both the top level folder (Gran Turismo 5 soundtrack) and bottom level folder (Lounge).
I tried your script provided in the link but it still doesn't work. As for the default cover, it appears only one the notify-osd message, not in the conky bar though.

sen7 In reply to Wyrm88 [2011-02-05 19:35:48 +0000 UTC]
In this case you just need to put it in the Lounge folder because mpd returns the path where the music files are stored. Yeah the default cover is used only for the osd, conky just displays the back of the cd-case.
If the script displays the default cover it means that it can't find the cover in the music directory. Please make sure that you specified the right mpd directory in the script, this pathname is used to complete the path for the cover search so if this one is wrong it won't work. Here an example:
If you have specified this in the mpd.conf (/etc/mpd.conf): music_directory "/home/test/music"
Then you need to enter this in the mpd_infos.py (settings): mpd_dir = '/home/test/music/'
Could that have been the issue or did you set it up this way?

Hmm, I've tried setting mpd.conf like you told me but still no changes.

I think my commented was removed, if this is a double I'm sorry about that. I'm getting this error with mpd:
Conky: MPD error: problems getting a response from "localhost" on port 6600 : Connection refused
I am running Amarok, have python-mpd installed. Not sure what the issue is, have googled for a couple hours and found nothing that has helped for this script. Thank you!

sen7 In reply to jmadero [2011-01-28 13:38:42 +0000 UTC]
Hi jmadero,
the script is for MPD and not Amarok!
Here are some infos how you can set it up on Ubuntu: [link]
There are other great gui-clients for MPD besides "Sonata" that you may want to check out (like "gmpc" for example).

I don't know if you're still on Arch or using this conky, but an upgrade regarding python 3 came out recently, and i noticed that the mpd_infos.py script isn't working anymore. Also my conky text suddenly got offset by a few pixels up :S.

sen7 In reply to Wyrm88 [2010-10-20 16:56:38 +0000 UTC]
Ah yeah, sry missed that one!
The conkyForecast script isn't python3 compatible either (at least not yet). You can fix it by editing "/usr/bin/conkyForecast" and changing "/usr/bin/python" to "/usr/bin/python2". I guess Kaivalagi will update it in a while.

Thank you very much, the offset is gone! Didn't know conkyForecast was python-dependent.
