Description I would first like to thank the badgers for helping me get through this. My thanks are withdrawn to the Snake, who by the fifteenth cycle or so was seriously giving me the jibblies.

I began this project rather haphazardly; it had been many months since I'd done pixelwork (or any art, for that matter, as you'll see by my stagnating user page) and I wasn't the most assured of my skills. But at one point in its creation, which was done almost entirely in one sitting, I realized it had to be made--right then. There was no turning back; it beckoned at me like some hideous, pixelated Gollum-creature, "Finissshess uss, he will! Musssst! Pixxxelsss should be filled! Elses we drivess him mad, gollum!" And, well, who was I to argue with a cute hideous wraith bearing a vague resemblance to Steve Buschimi?

For the less astute of you, or at least those who are trying to keep your eyesight, this is a recreation in 16x16 pixelized form of the classic arcade Mario Bros. game--yes, this is even before the NES graced our homes, and " Nintendo of America" was working out of a tenement apartment surviving on pizza and beer. In fact, I discovered in researching for this that Mario was originally to be called "Jumpman", but they renamed and redrew him in honor of their landlord, who would never fail to faithfully unclog their toilet while they were localizing the product. These are the stories that make you want to cry.

Uh...anyway, I've run out of time to write this description, but I promise I'll get back to it and hopefully upload the unsized version elsewhere, since DA has a habit of enlarging them for your Viewing Pleasure. Now, off to school--as always, comments and critiques are warmly welcomed

I was laughing my ass out when I saw this.. cuz it keeps on and on and won't stop.. And I was thinking, what the.. he's going to make the whole rounds up.. and yeah.. Seems like Mario is running faster than usual when he tried to flip that last turtle...

Ah.. well nostalgia..

Well, I'm glad you think so They certainly will...just as Elvis will live on forever within our hearts, minds, and a small trailer park in Kentucky

2 bits? Would that be something like this? [link]

i knew it was mario the second i layed my eyes on the overall layour.

genious creating a small 16-bit version .. still looks fun from the animation -- the graphics, therefore, obviously mean a game is nothing without gameplay. something game developers this day and age have yet to catch onto.

Astoundingly true stuff, man. I'm glad that I was able to carry that sense of overall instant recognition of the classic, even in re-frik-ulously tiny form. I imagine this would be a blast to play in the system tray if anyone had the talent to code for it--I know that a while back there was a group who programmed for exactly that, but they didn't get too far and last I heard they'd closed down because of copyright issues. Feh. Why must the law always get in the way of creation?!

...Jerks. Thanks for the comment, at any rate

that's a shame .. it would have been a blast to play just sitting on your system tray ..

oh well -- i don't see how anyone would create a copyright case for something as tiny as a few pixels jumping around .. but i guess they have their ways.

It certainly is aboot time I'm really glad you're still watching out for my stuff, too--make me feel all warm n' fuzzy inside. Which probably isn't a good thing, since I'm pretty sure my insides are supposed to be damp and squishy, but anyway, I appreciate your comment I'll be sure to update more as soon as I can...and I'll be sure to give you some much-deserved comments on your own great artwork, after all this time.

Phrogman is back in action! Hoo-Yeah! (*end Duffman impression*) Thanks for the comment, man; it's good to see I haven't lost *all* of my watchers yet I am back, in a sense--school is still absorbing a lot of my time, but for some reason this seems to inspire me into creating *more*...so hopefully, that's what you'll see. Expect more commentation as well, if I manage to find time in between working Take it easy!

I'll keep an ever vigilant eye out for you mi amigo. I too have returned to school. I'm going to a local community college. I hope to get a degree in graphic art, or graphic design. It's very strange being back in school after all these years.(7 or 8 to be exact.) Good luck in all your endeavors.

Hey, thanks! Yes, the really eerie thing was, the whole animation seemed to create itself; I was merely pushing the pixels around for it. I mean, I had an original rough plan as to what would be happening, but it was almost as though the game was playing as I made it, in rediculously small form. It also spooked me that I ended up with exactly 100 frames of animation--I in no way planned that Thanks again for the comment, I do appreciate this sort of thing

"...cute hideous wraith..."

Isn't that somewhat of an oxymoron...? ^.~ It's been forever and a day since you submitted anything, so kudos to you for finally doing it. :-รพ Hehe... The lil pixelly thingy is cute... Actually, I like your description best, hehe. I found it quite entertaining.

Now update more often!!!!

I'll be updating later this week. ^.~ So you'll hafta come check out my new stuffses. Yeesssss.... comesss to me precioussssss....

Gollum is an oxymoron. Besides, he's just a very confused, mutated hobbit, so my sympathies remain for him--because there's a little Gollum in all of us.

...Or something.

I'm really, really glad that I've returned to still have people watching out for my stuff, though. It makes me feel wanted...and also, admittedly, like quite a bastaje for leaving you all hanging for so long. I refuse to promise that I won't let it happen again, because that would instantly mean that it would...but I'll do my best. I do have several things lined up, actually, so I'll be releasing those in pretty regular intervals. Hopefully. Unless our state is wiped out by the coming hurricane, in which case I might be having to do these things on a rowboat, which could complicate matters. Oi.

I will certainly be sure to check out your new stuffage, after such a kind responce to mine--and again, I really do appreciate that. Take it easy!
