Description For those who are unfamiliar with the Sentinel Corps universe, there are two worlds, the "mortal world" you could say, where the Sentinel Corps battle technological or biological threats to the city, and then there is the hidden, magical world, where heroes like Eric and Trixie battle with the demonic Zeke and his shadow organization, for possession of dangerous and powerful cursed objects and relics. While most of these cursed objects were mere trinkets imbued with mediocre, supernatural powers, there was one relic that arrived in Sapphire City that would be a game changer, and give rise to a new hero.

Karen Olsen was a young, college graduate who had just earned her degree in History, a major that she truly favored ever since high school. She had planned to have a career as a history teacher at either a high school or college, but unfortunately, like most plans in life, they never quite work out as originally intended. Many of the teaching jobs she applied for did not accept her on account of lack of experience, and with her college debts and bills stacking, she needed to find an alternative job, at least until a school accepted her application. While searching for a job online, she discovered there was opening at the Sapphire City Natural History Museum, unfortunately it was only as a night watchman. Seeing this as a better choice than finding a job in something like retail, Karen applied for the job and was hired a few days later. While being a night watchman was a simple job, it was rather boring, the only upside to it was that she was free to wander around and look at the exhibits while she worked. Two weeks into her new job, she was informed by the museum curator that they'll be receiving a new relic to be displayed, an ancient, Nordic sword, that supposedly belonged to the legendary Anglo-Saxon hero, Beowulf. The curator advised Karen to stay on guard for the next few days, as there have been reports of thefts concerning antique items throughout the city. The following night, while Karen was on patrol, she heard noises coming from the exhibit room where the sword was being kept. She discovered two men trying to quietly open the display case the sword was kept in. Reacting quickly, Karen hit the alarm and immediately ordered the men to freeze. While she was fortunate the thieves weren't armed, they did not comply with her order, and merely smashed open the glass case to grab the sword. Once they had it, they made a break for the exit, with Karen recklessly pursuing after them. She managed to catch up to the one holding the sword and made a dive for his legs, bringing him to the ground and knocking the sword out of his hands. As the sword slid across the floor, Karen and the thief scramble over each other to get to the sword, until finally Karen managed to grab hold of the sword, but looked up to see the other thief brandishing one of the museum's barrier polls as a weapon. Karen braced herself for the impact, but suddenly was overwhelmed by a surge throughout her body, coming from the blade. Suddenly, Karen was swallowed up by a blaze of flames, confusing the thieves as they backed away. Suddenly, the flames disappeared, and Karen was visible once more, however she had gone through a dramatic transformation. As she stood up, she was now much taller than she was before, and physically fit and toned. Her security uniform was gone, and had been replaced by what appeared to be ancient armor of some kind. Even the sword had gone through a change as well, before it was deeply ionized and rusted, but now it appeared to be restored to it's former glory. It was hard to tell who was more baffled, the thieves or Karen, but once the confusion had passed, the thieves tried to make another break for it. However, Karen easily caught up to them and stood in their way, blocking their only exit. One of the thieves tried to punch Karen, but it had absolutely no effect, and Karen retaliated by swatting him away like a fly, knocking him into the wall. The other thief tried to run once more, this time calling his employer and letting them know of the situation before Karen caught up to him and knocked him unconscious. Once the thieves were dealt with Karen, still feeling a bit overwhelmed with what was happening, took off into the night in her new form, unaware that she had now taken the sword of Beowulf from the museum. Elsewhere, in a jazz club in uptown Sapphire City, Zeke hung up his phone after hearing what had happened from the thief he hired to steal the sword. Rather than be upset, he sat quietly in his chair, pondering his next move on how to retrieve that sword, now that the legendary Beowulf had returned.

When Karen grabbed hold of that sword, she was imbued with immense power and abilities based on the story of the legendary hero, Beowulf, essentially making her a modern incarnation of the ancient Anglo-Saxon hero. The only reason it activated when she grabbed it and not the thieves, was because the sword only responds to those who are descendants of Geats, the Germanic tribe that Beowulf hailed from. Her body goes through a drastic physical transformation, making her larger and a bit bulkier, representing her increased strength. The sword bestows upon her three powerful spells. The first is the spell that grants Karen the strength and skill of Beowulf, increasing her strength immensely to the point where she can pick up a car with ease, or smash a boulder into rubble, or even rip off a monster's arm. The second spell is the same spell used by both Grendel and his Mother, where no mortal weapon can harm her, essentially making her invulnerable to most weapons, from blades to guns. The third however, is her most powerful, Dragon Fire, obtained after Beowulf killed the dragon in his final battle. With this, Karen can wield the power to expel streams of dragon fire from her sword, burning nearly anything or anyone unfortunate enough to be in the way. While she gains immense power, she still has vulnerabilities, even in her Beowulf form. If she were to lose the sword or if it were destroyed, she would obviously lose her powers. Also, while the spell of Grendel protects her from mortal weapons, it does have a similar loophole like in the story. Magical weapons and spells can harm her, and the spell does not protect her from a powerful, unarmed opponent, such as heavy-hitting En-Humans, like Bellona, or Crimson Glory. Also, while she can technically maintain her form for long periods of time, she can be forced back to her normal state if she overtaxes herself or her powers.

As the new Beowulf, Karen must decide what to do with her life now. With the sword and it power in her possession, and Zeke prepared to send his forces, man or beast to retrieve that sword, she must decide either to run, or stand and prove herself worthy of bearing the name, Beowulf, the Slayer of Monsters.
