Sooooo yeah? New Gorillaz album.I don't know if I enjoy Plastic Beach yet. Right now it kind of feel like an average album with a couple really outstanding songs (Empire Ants, Sweepstakes, and Superfast Jellyfish), but then again it took a few listens for Demon Days to finally grow on me.
Although I probably won't go jogging with it again. Too downtempo I guess?

But no, really, it took me a couple of listens, too, but I'm in love with it now :'D The only thing I regret is that lack of songs that actually feature Albarn, but the synth and the composition of most of the songs is still astounding.
Although I agree, Stylo is a bit overrated for me. Something about it felt too, I dunno, 80s. But Some Kind of Nature, Rhinestone Eyes, White Flag, Plastic Beach (Not the song with Snoop Dog; the other one toward the end of the album), Empire Ants, To Binge, Sweepstakes (YOU'RE A WINNER FFFF)... Like... They're all awesome. Even Stylo's starting to grow on me a bit.

The "FEATURING" on every bloody track was part of the problem.

Yeah, I agree with you there. People cite the fact that there were guests on practically every Demon Days track as well, only the song titles didn't have the "Feat." bit in them, but at least Albarn was in every song in Demon Days (except for the intro and the very last song), whereas he's sorely missing in a number of the tracks on Plastic Beach
But, my god, the tracks with Albarn in them are genius

Melancholy Hill was probably my favorite song on the album. And what did it have?

Melancholy Hill was good, although it's probably my... fifth-favorite song on the album. Some Kind of Nature and Rhinestone Eyes were godly in my humble opinion :'D

Actually though, think there's a few songs I don't really like (like the weird country songs Led Zeplin did, as opposed to the ones that actually worked ,_,)

I kind of had the same feeling. I like some tracks, but when I was listening through it, I kept trying to skip tracks, forgetting I was listening to the one album to see how I felt. I'll see how I feel in a few days, I was boppin' my head to it every now and again when it came up in the mix of all my music.
Why not try again in a week, reviewing off of one listen through doesn't seem fair. But that's just me. I do agree that it is a collective slower tempo. With many cds, though, I'll like about 1/3-1/2, or I'll get into them much later after I've had it for a while.

Yeah Stylo and Empire Ants are my favs right now. Superfast Jellyfish is also really good. I actually like the album myself...it harkens back to the days before they did demons days...
Rather they put a spin on this one with a sorta electro-80's darkside sorta feel.

I had the same thoughts, but I realized that most other Gorillaz stuff is pretty down tempo and takes a few listens to fall in love with... but fall in love you will, my friend. I've been enjoying the new album while drawing, it's a good album to space out and do less physically active work to.
I'm partial to Glitter Freeze and White Flag, but you listed my other favorites.
