This picture made me realize that I do not have enough free time in my life, any more. I had to work on it in bits and pieces over the last three weeks for little hour intervals at a time, normally one day a week. It really wound up kind of depressing.But, it's a nice first step towards working on this comic, again!

Your characters are fab as always, but what really blew my mind with this (and the previews) was the background. Even if it didn't come out quite as you'd hoped, I think it looks magnificent. And major points for effort! Seriously, I could never convince myself to draw that many buildings, haha. You managed to create a fantastic scene here.

I love the rolling hills. I love the skyscape (especially the stars, and the trails of cloud). I love the warm sunset colors and the bushy, furry, trees and the individual blades of grass.
I love Mona's pigeon toes!
I love Esteban's bony elbows and his gangly marionette legs, and how she's looking at the book, and he's looking at her.
The best things can take time, and for a lot of different reasons! D:> I am sorry it gave you so much trouble, but it is absolutely fabulous.

Yeah, it's pretty much just the day job giving me a headache. They keep tacking more and more onto my schedule, and more and more into my actual work tasks, so not only do I work more days, but I have more to do crammed into them. I hate to get ranty, but some days I go home and my hands are shaking, which makes it very difficult to work on artwork. I'm gonna find a way around it, though (even if it means getting a new job!).

Rant all you want! It can get tough when you want to be an artist of any capacity it seems. You're either too busy to sit down and create, or too bored and uninspired to come up with something you like. If it does get to be too much of a drain and you're really considering quitting that job to gain more time, you might want to give this a watch (turn up the volume though): [link]
Don't give up the faith either way. There's no time limit on art.

Katie, you're a doll. I think I've mentioned before! You're a doll. I'm glad you like it - if there was one thing I'm unhappy with, it would be the background, but at least I have a better system for next time! Always on the up-and-up, right?

Well, if it makes you feel any better (and I know that, coming from a hack like myself, it probably doesn't! XD ), I think that the background's beautiful. The smooth mingling of vibrant jewel-tone sunset colors is wonderful, and, while it sounds silly, you know when to add detail and when to stop. It's like how there are individual bricks on one building (and how the light makes the differentiation fade, while a bit further back, perspectivly realistic, you don't put those in. Not everyone has the insight to do that.
Plus, it might have been frustrating that it took three weeks to do based upon work, but think of it this way--someone else, such as myself, could work solidly for three years and it would still never turn out so well! It's a wonderful picture!

I know how that is. Negative times can strike and, sometimes, really pull have a vice-like grip. I've been getting them fairly often lately. That just makes it all the more important for us to pull each other up when feeling down--especially someone as nice as you!

Woah, even though I had already seen the WIP's, looking at it fully finished it's impressive. Yup, that's the word- impressive. I don't even know where to begin! The colouring is outstanding, the colour palette you used is wonderful, very romantic. Loving the background (and, of course, Mona and Esteban!). Wonderful job, Amy.
