You don't need to make her a passive poser to make her an adult. This is such a terrible pic. Why! She's a fighter and heroe, and you had to make her a poser ready to pose like one of those passive calendar girls. The way you depict her makes her passive and useless, the contrary of what her character is. You don't do her any justice. This can't be fan art! What fighter would ever just pose like that, in a middle of a fight? Isn't she a little under equipped like this to fight anyway? LOL. Weird concept. Your technique is great though, too bad you don't use it to empower and celebrate her strength with more abs or more action.

I know this is late but I can't help to say that you're
mean. You can't say it's terrible because you don't like it. I get that you think it's a weird concept, but the artist worked hard on it, you can't just spit terrible on her work because you simply don't like it for that kind of reason. You can't say that what the artist drew isn't fanart. If it's specifically about or depicting a certain character for a certain fandom, then it is fanart. She might've made Mikasa look a little out of character but she draws what she wants. I'd like to see you draw as good. If you think what you're saying helps, I advise you to keep your opinions to yourself if you talk like this. The way you said you don't like it makes it sound like you're trying to insult the artist. you're being insensitive. I hope you understood your mistake. Next time, think before commenting or just talking in general.

You need to re-read my comment. Yes I find that pic terrible, in my point of view: it is very subjective, in my own appreciation, as art is always a personal interpretation. I am not stating a general truth that everybody should follow, but some will agree, some won't. I think we are still allowed to express our judgement, this is what you do when you decide I am mean without even considering the points I was making. I am explaining to the author what effect this image can have (on people who think like me), I am giving my interpretation, it is an interesting feedback as long as it is justified and explained and not free bashing. I actually admire the artist's talent and told her she has great technique, her style drew my attention in the first place and didn't let me indifferent, hence my comment. Of course this took a lot of effort and I am in no way insulting her capacity and certainly not her personally. I never implied or wrote that what she did is easy or didn't take any effort, it is your own deduction. My point is about the message I get from this image, not the artistic rendering. I maintain that this image doesn't convey a positive message about female heroes and doesn't change or challenge at all how we perceive women and their strength and capacity because we are used to this "passive poster girl" like imagery. This anime on the contrary improves that perception through Mikasa's character, but such images - I think - cancel that improvement. Yet, I don't contest the artist's freedom to do her thing, but artists through their art convey ideas that spread and not all ideas are worth spreading, depending on the values we believe in. Every time someone says sth is terrible, you should understand that it is a very subjective point of view that only belongs to them and not a general truth about yourself or the world. I advise you to follow your own advices.

I'm sorry, you didn't really give too much explanation so I just judged what was given. But now since you've clarified your statement, I think I can understand your point better now. I hope that next time please just don't straight out say that an artwork like this is terrible without explaining why it is or saying what is actually terrible about it. I mean when you read your own statement you understand what you're taling about without much elaboration. But since it's your mind and not mine next time make it clearer please.
