Edit: Version2Simplified design. The color scheme and overall look should reflect the character he was based off of more. It should also make him easier to draw.

Caldwell Dore
Pronounced Call-de-well
Caldwell is the disinherited fifth son of a wealthy, powerful English family. All the land and money is scheduled to go to his four older brothers, and Caldwell will be left penniless.
As the fifth son, his duty is merely to enrich the Family through marriage. However, he has adamant about rejecting all the local English girls, as well as the Dutch, French, Spanish, Italian, Irish, Polish, Norwegian, Hungarian, Swedish, Russian, Scottish, and Portuguese ladies. Therefore, his parents have set their eyes on the growing Asian empire, and Caldwell has been sent to Japan (to find a nice, high-ranking wife and create a firm foothold for the Family). Caldwell only agreed to go because he heard that they are developing some fine new weaponry over there.
He has been very interested in technology since he was young. Caldwell enjoys keeping up on all the latest technology and always carries tools with him. For a 20-year-old, he is much more interested in machines than women, which is to say, not at all (it's because he's stuck in the mindset of elementary school forever, where girls = cooties). He uses a musket of the newest design, too bad he has terrible aim with those weak little arms of his. The knife is a last resort (he usually uses it for eating).
His other ambition (besides to make the first flying machine) is to regain his fortune through very evil and very genius ways. It is unfortunate he is not very good at either of these things - he is still perfecting his evil smile, and is cursed with the compulsive need to spew formalities.

(Most of the men I know from school never grew up past thirteen, so somehow this fellow isn't much of a surprise, har har).
Very fond of his costume, you've got a good eye for the right details in period costumes.

Thanks! I've had a couple duels with him and people seem to like him. I did a lot of initial research on period costumes, but I ended up scrapping most of that anyway in order for a cleaner, more modern look.

Caldwell is a very silly character, most of the ideas I had for his background came up when I was researching the old English symbols for family crests and their meanings! It's a lot easier for me to create a bio for my character when I know the background of his time already. If you like him, check out the duel with him that I just did
