touch isn't limited by layers of clothing. if a person slaps you through fabric you still feel it.

Well, of course you still feel it, but that doesn't mean the touch telepathy would still be triggered. Just like Rogue from the X-Men can touch people without draining their power or killing them, provided she is wearing gloves. I just always assumed the touch telepathy worked the same way, requiring skin-to-skin contact.

Yeah, I know it was a joke but...that's what I do with jokes: I bring logic into them. Sorry. I have a rather unique sense of humour.
As far as the range of Spock's telepathy goes, I'm not really sure, but I *think* that he has to very specifically try to use his telepathy over a distance, but if he's touching skin-to-skin, he probably has to try to not use it. If that makes sense. Maybe the particulars of Vulcan telepathy (or half-Vulcan telepathy) are explained on a wiki somewhere... But I'm too lazy to look it up.
